Police Aur Mujrim was the first Indian film to release theatrically in Canada after a gap of 10 years. The date was July 26, 1992. In Vancouver,British Columbia,the movie premiered at the Robson Square Theatre. Movies would be shown here every weekend till May 1993. From May 1993 on wards, Indian films were shown at a newly renovated theatre,located on 3215 Kingsway street in Vancouver, British Columbia. It would be now known as Regal Theatre till May 1997.
When the film was launched, it had Mithun and Juhi in the lead roles. Rajesh Vakil was to direct the film.
K.C. Bokadia wanted to launch Mamta Kulkarni with the film. But she was under contract with another producer.
South actor Prashant was signed for the film but later replaced by Avinash Wadhawan.
This movie would be the final one in which an actress (Anjana Mumtaz) would be paired with Raaj Kumar. All movies until his death would not have any actress paired with him.
