Rare staring role for M.Gough
gnok200216 December 2011
My intention is to post a review for all films I've seen that are so far lacking one. This was shown on Dec 12th 2011 at the NFT in London UK, it was introduced by the continuity girl R.Glynne, also present was the director of photography Wolfgang Suschitzky who is 99! and M.Gough's widow who had not seen this rare film.

review - A rare staring role from M.Gough as an Irish tinker who having accidentally killed a gamekeeper is perused by a policeman nearing retirement, shot in a realistic manner on location in Ireland, good. Worth seeing for M.Gough fans, and the good location photography, unfussy direction by documentary maker P.Rotha, my rating 4/7.

Dreary quota quickie

This film is directed by noted documentary maker Paul Rotha who only made a handful of fiction films,of which this is one.It is an extremely dull and drawn out affair.Scenes seem to be drwan out, lasting long past their natural length.Michael Gough is reasonable in the lead role before he became a fixture in horror films
