excellent art film
dulci_jubilo29 September 2005
Citizen is one of the most underrated, unknown art films of the past 25 years. It is brilliantly disjointed, thoughtful, artistic and thematically woven with strings of contemporary street performers (including Whoopi Goldberg in her first film appearance) by a group of talented young actors on a journey through the craziness and beauty of life in San Francisco. It is more reminiscent of experimental German films from the 20s and 30s or Fellini films, like Amarcord, which comment on their contemporary society by taking you on a journey through it. Citizen is an undiscovered classic and a San Francisco cult favorite.
