Near the beginning, Sunshine plays with a melon ball, which is animated on the top. When the perspective switches to just behind a child's head, with Sunshine in the background, the ball passes in front of the child's head when it should go behind it.
During the final food fight, the food the good guys keep throwing at the villains appears in their hands out of nowhere between frames. When they throw the food, new food appears instantly.
General X falls when Dex pulls the rug out from under him. Sunshine is tied to a chair on the same rug, yet she doesn't move. After Dex tugs on the rug, it's back to normal in the next shot, and General X seems to be falling back by himself.
Sunshine's cat ear constantly disappears and reappears.
When the watermelon hits Dan, it produces a bright green splat, even though watermelon is red on the inside. When another melon is thrown during the final food fight, it's red when it breaks apart.
In the beginning, Dex and Sunshine sit down for a fancy dinner. The table is covered with grapes, a carton of milk, and ice cream with fudge topping. Dex eats raisins and drinks milk throughout the film. None of those foods are good for dogs; raisins and chocolate can be fatal to dogs. Raisins are also fatal to cats, and Sunshine is a cat-human hybrid.
During the titular food fight the ketchup bottles are hit at the base to release extra ketchup, despite being squeezy bottles, which by design don't need to handled as such.
In the opening scene, when the store's parking lot is shown, one street lamp overlaps a car that should be in front of it.
The animation throughout the film is rushed and unfinished. Characters often lack facial expressions, their lip movements don't match their dialogue, and several solid objects go through one another.
The audio quality throughout the movie is inconsistent. Some of the voice actors' lines were recorded with different equipment.
When the hairless hamsters fall out of the sky, they are flattened before they reach the ground.
Dex flies on a sealed soda bottle before the bottle cap is knocked off. A string was attached to the bottle in the original trailer, but it was removed from the finished version.
