- Filomen Dubansky inherited a nice manor. As he has never worked in his life and has a lot of debts, he is in his fifties a bit shocked. He was looking forward to a nice sum in cash and now this. He considers the possibility of selling the manor, but he likes the glamour of such an estate, so he tries to find some other way. He decides to marry his daughter Jana to some wealthy man. His choice is a doctor Andre Bernard. Jana says no to such a plan and the same reaction Dubansky gets from Andre. Dubansky decides then to sacrifice himself and finds a wealthy American widow. She insists on a romantic journey to Tatras. Dubanský collects the last of his money and invites her to a trip to mountain resort in High Tatras. Meanwhile the personnel of his manor - valet Jindrich and maid Eva - doesn't believe in success of his plan. They decide to raise money by converting the manor to a guest house. After a lot of amateur advertising first guests come. One of them is Andre, who is curious and wants to see his appointed wife in secret. Valet Jindrich finds him out and shares the information with Jana who decides to play the same game. Andre looks for a secretary and Jana gets the job under a false name. When Dubansky discovers that his fiancee is a swindler and no cash is in sight, he comes home and finds his manor changed to a profit making hotel. He has to support the new arrangement and accepts a role of a doorkeeper. In spite of a heroic effort of all present, the manor is soon to be sold to cover Dubansky's debts. Andre finds that he was deceived by Jana's false identity. He leaves in the burst of anger. But in the end he saves the situation. He calms down and buys the manor as a present for Jana.
