Recently, we’ve gotten a first look at Corenswet’s Superman suit. In the photo, Superman can be seen putting on his bright red boots, with imagery in the background being a nod to an alien attack in the sky.
The costume was met with mixed reviews with several notable complaints, some of them making sense, and some not as much.
While the discord and debate surrounding the suit was mostly among fans, now the professionals have chimed in. Clay Staub a writer, director, and unit director who collaborated with Zack Snyder on his “Man of Steel’ and several notable projects both within the Dceu and outside of it, recently trashed Superman’s costume reveal, claiming that the selected pose really did not do much to flatter the material and the suit itself.

Recently, we got our first glimpse of Corenswet’s Superman suit. The photo shows Superman donning his vibrant red boots, with background imagery hinting at an alien attack in the sky.
The costume received mixed reviews, with several notable criticisms, some more valid than others.

James Gunn is quite busy carefully crafting his new Dcu from the ruins of the former Dceu. And just like his predecessor, Zack Snyder, he is commencing with a story based on the Man of Steel. He has caused major ripples among the fan community after revealing his version of the Superman costume.
All-Star Superman
Choosing Superman to officially inaugurate his DC Universe was a smart move, considering how the ‘Hope’-man was the first comic book superhero, as well as DC’s first hero. His costume is quite iconic, which is why fans pay attention to every detail when it comes to live-action.
However, in the costume reveal, there’s a lot more going on than just David Corenswet rocking his Superman suit. Can you spot what it is?

The first official look at David Corenswet as the Man of Steel in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie was revealed yesterday, and opinions are quite mixed. Instead of the traditional action pose fans were expecting, Gunn chose to show Superman in the midst of putting on his boots while an unknown threat looms outside. Unfortunately, this position doesn’t do the suit any favours as it looks wrinkled and bunched in the wrong places, but all in all, it looks alright to me. You’ve got the trunks back, plus Superman’s classic hair curl. Corsenswet does look great in the role, and the suit itself seems inspired by the New 52 version combined with a Kingdom Come logo. It does appear to be slightly battle-damaged, suggesting that this isn’t the first threat he’s faced that day.

Yesterday marked a significant day for fans eagerly awaiting the upcoming ‘Dcu,’ as we were treated to the first glimpse of Corenswet’s Superman suit. The photo captures Superman donning his vibrant red boots, against a backdrop hinting at an impending alien attack in the sky.
The costume received mixed reviews, with some notable complaints arising. Many of these criticisms seemed unfounded, largely stemming from a reluctance among certain segments of the fandom to bid farewell to the Snyderverse.
The suit drew frequent criticism for being perceived as a step down from Cavill’s attire. Many fans noted that it lacked the appearance of being crafted by an advanced civilization.

After first teasing the costume at the end of February, yesterday saw us finally get a proper look at David Corenswet's Man of Steel in DC Studios and James Gunn's Superman. Unfortunately, the response has been mixed.
That's typically the case with any suit reveal, but the image makes some noteworthy missteps in its presentation that have left some fans concerned with the creative direction of the Dcu.
In this feature, we take a look at those and what the image itself reveals about Superman. From a possible villain tease to the suit's finer, possibly McU-inspired finer details, we're breaking it down for you in as much detail as possible.
So, to find out what we've discovered, simply click on that "Next"/"View List" button below...

Earlier today, DC Studios' co-ceo and Superman director James Gunn shared a first look at David Corenswet suited up as the Dcu's new Man of Tomorrow.
The response so far has been...mixed. Before we get to the suit, the image itself has raised eyebrows; rather than striking a heroic pose, Supes is sitting down in his incredibly expensive-looking apartment either removing or putting on his boot.
Meanwhile, a poorly CG'd explosion is taking place outside (is it AI?), a development the hero is either ignoring or hasn't noticed yet. It's a weird way to present our first look at the Dcu's Superman and arguably does the costume itself no favours.
Because he's sitting down, it's folded over in places and appears ill-fitting. Was this really the best way to present Corenswet's Superman to the world first the first time?
Gunn was clearly going for something here, though we're still struggling to figure out what.

Last year, Gunn and Safran introduced new plans for the “Dcu,” a cinematic universe intended to replace and reboot the Dceu. The initial phase, dubbed ‘Gods & Monsters,’ encompasses animated projects and live-action shows set in Themyscira long before Wonder Woman’s era.
Although the animated series ‘Creature Commandos’ debuted first, the true kickoff of the Dcu will be ‘Superman,’ a live-action film centering on a younger Superman, effectively supplanting Cavill’s established Man of Steel. While the movie is still far from release, we’ve gathered available information in this comprehensive guide. Let’s dive in!
The plot of the film remains a mystery, yet its inspiration is clear enough
At the Dcu reveal, Gunn mentioned that the upcoming movie draws inspiration from ‘All-Star Superman,’ despite the costume drawing from Alex Ross’ art and the logo resembling ‘Kingdom Come’ Superman at the table reading. The movie’s brief synopsis...

Coming off the success of The Dark Knight trilogy, WB wanted to take a similar route for Superman, leading them to bring Zack Snyder on board for 2013’s Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill. But considering, unlike Batman, Superman is a bright and optimistic character, making him dark and brooding didn’t land well among fans, and with Bvs, these issues only aggravated.
While the Dceu might’ve gotten more wrongs than rights regarding the beloved heroes, it did excel in the costume department, especially with Superman, which inspired Black Panther’s iconic suit.

Written by Mark Waid and Alex Ross, DC Comics Kingdom Come was published in 1996 under the Elseworlds imprint. Alex Ross developed the concept from the original idea and painted the comic book in gouache, which has been appreciated by ardent comic book fans. DC Animated Universe veteran Bruce Timm also appreciates Alex Ross’ concept for the comic book.
Set in an alternate future of the DC Universe, Kingdom Come’s story takes the readers into a time when the Justice League team and the new-generation superheroes are fighting each other to determine the future of the planet. The limited series was reportedly written as an indictment against the growing trend of violent anti-hero archetypes that sprung out in the early 1990s. Comic books make up the bulk of pop culture literature today. And what makes them special is their gorgeous art that gives wings to our imagination. In the history of DC and Marvel comics, very few artists have gone on to receive legendary status. Alex Ross is definitely one of them, whose works in both industry powerhouses are nothing short of dreams coming to reality.

1996’s animated show Superman: The Animated Series was widely loved by fans, and it wasn’t just because of its storyline. Written by Alan Burnett, Paul Dini, Stan Berkowitz, and Rich Fogel and developed by Burnett and Bruce Timm, the series also earned massive fan approval for how it paid homage to some real legends.

Ever since David Corenswet was officially announced as the replacement for Henry Cavill in the iconic role in James Gunn’s version of the DC Universe, fans have been conflicted about who the better one is.
(L-r): Henry Cavill and David Corenswet

And this time, most fans seem to have the final answer.

With James Gunn and Peter Safran taking on the roles of co-CEOs of DC Studios in 2022, a reboot for the DC Universe became apparent, marking the conclusion of the Dceu era. James Gunn, in particular, has ambitious plans for the Dcu, signaling a new direction and vision for the cinematic universe. Zack Snyder may not be part of the DC verse anymore, but he has given us some of the best Dceu movies of all time. One of these few movies is Justice League. Although the director had to leave midway during the movie’s production, the project brought one of the most iconic comic book scenes on the big screen.
The Flash races against Superman in Justice League
While the movie failed to reveal who is the winner, it featured a Superman vs. Flash race, an event that has occurred many times in comic books. This one scene has a surprising and special connection to Lex Luthor that would really melt the fans’ hearts.

While Zack Snyder may have moved on from his glory days in the Dceu directing and supervising the chaptres of the now-discontinued franchise towards the conclusion that was Zack Snyder’s Justice League, die-hard fans still ponder on all the possibilities that he had in store for us.
Among them, there was always a theory of a Justice League trilogy that was in the works at WB Discovery before the filmmaker left the studios.

When it comes to superheroes, their logos are equally important as their costumes. And with James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film, fans are eager to see what the logo will look like. The logo was recently revealed (along with the updated title), and it has created quite a stir among fans. The filming officially began, as the DC co-head announced on social media on February 29. Did we mention that he also updated the title to Superman?
Additionally, the new S symbol was unveiled, providing the public with their first official look at David Corenswet’s DC Universe suit. Having said that, many people started comparing Gunn’s Superman logo to the one featured in Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel film. While the two logos have a number of similarities, there is one hidden Easter egg in Gunn’s logo that fans need to look out for.

As the new year kicks off, we’re getting a fresh cinematic universe based on DC characters – the Dcu. The Dceu wrapped up with ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ doing okay, but let’s be honest, most of its movies didn’t do great. That’s why Gunn and Safran were brought in to lead the new Dcu, promising lots of new projects. Among these, ‘Superman’ is getting the most buzz, setting the stage for the Dcu even though ‘Creature Commandos’ will come out first.
After a lot of guessing and planning, Gunn happily shared that filming for ‘Superman’ started on February 29th, which just so happens to be Superman’s birthday. When asked about what inspired Superman’s new suit, which we’ve had a quick look at, Gunn pointed to Alex Ross, a famous comic book writer and artist, as his main inspiration.

With the start of the new year, we can look forward to the start of a new cinematic universe based on DC characters – Dcu. And while Dceu ended its run with a somewhat successful ‘Aquman and the Lost Kingdom, ‘ the fact still remains that the majority of the movies have flopped. This is why Gunn and Safran were called in to take over the reins of the newly rebooted Dcu, and they have plenty of projects on their release calendar, but none is as talked about as ‘Superman,’ a true beginning of Dcu despite the fact that ‘Creature commandos’ are releasing first.
Now after months of speculation and planning, Gunn was overjoyed to announce that ‘Superman’ has begun principal photography on February 29th which is, coincidentally, Superman’s birthday. Gunn was also asked on the same thread regarding the inspiration for Superman’s suit which we’ve gotten a sneak...

With such a beloved and iconic character as Superman being reiterated for another vision, it becomes imperative for James Gunn to bring something new and impactful to the table as the Dcu starts taking shape. So far, there have been several compelling rumors and speculations that have presented an expectation barrier for the fans to theorize on by constant updates by the co-ceo of DC Studios.

But by far one of the biggest updates to the project came in the form of the logo for the upcoming Superman: Legacy, which will be donned by David Corenswet in the film and the Dcu in the future. Thus, new theories have started to formulate, and one of them paints a picture of a darker, more gritty narrative if the Kingdom Come arc storyline is followed as was revealed by the logo.

The best thing that can be said about this treading-water weekend box office is that it would have been far worse without two niche audience films. And it is the last in February, with a much better March ahead.
“Bob Marley: One Love” (Paramount) repeats as number one with a respectable $13.5 million second weekend gross. It remains a possibility to reach a domestic $100 million, though this could be close. It fell 53 percent, not bad, but that’s compared to a first weekend when it already had a first two-day total of nearly $18 million before then.
That led a weekend coming to around $60 million total gross. Let’s be honest: That’s pathetic. “Marley” is doing fine, and the Manga “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba — To the Hashira Training” (Sony) #2/ $11.6 million and the faith-based adjacent drama “Ordinary Angels” (Lionsgate) #3/$6.5 million were credible performers versus anticipated results and investment. But the...

1986 was an important year for DC Comics. "Crisis on Infinite Earths" rebooted the decades-old continuity, and Frank Miller reinvigorated Batman with "The Dark Knight Returns." Miller's tale depicted an aged Bruce Wayne coming out of retirement to fight the evils of the 1980s, from street gangs to the Cold War to Ronald Reagan. If you've ever wondered what the beginning of dark and gritty Batman was, it was this book.
The next year, DC was relaunching the main "Batman" title for the "Post-Crisis" era, and Miller was the obvious choice to kick it off. The result was "Year One," running four issues from "Batman" #404-407. The book follows Bruce Wayne's early days as a crime fighter when Gotham City was menaced by the mob, not super-villains. Batman refines his tactics through trial and error and slowly wins the trust of James Gordon — not yet a commissioner, but a rare...

Like droids, the live-action "Star Wars" films rarely pause to explore the inner lives of clones and their larger place in a galaxy far, far away. It's what makes "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" such an essential piece of storytelling to the franchise's greater mythology. The spinoff of the "Clone Wars" animated series focuses on the adventures of the titular clone squad (aka. Clone Force 99), a small band of clones with unique genetic or physical traits that was introduced during its parent show's final season. However, for as much as it operates as a small-scale story about a family struggling to survive, "The Bad Batch" also addresses much bigger issues concerning clone rights and allegiances in the wake of the Clone Wars.
"The Bad Batch" season 1 begins, as it must, with Emperor Palpatine issuing Order 66, activating the inhibitor chips built into all the clones' brains and forcing them to execute any Jedi on sight.

The timing of Mel Brooks' 1987 spoof "Spaceballs" was, when one thinks about it, rather peculiar. 1987 was a fallow time for the "Star Wars" saga. The last film in the series, "Ewoks: The Battle for Endor," had come out a full two years prior, and it was not terribly well-received or even widely seen. "Star Wars" had begun making the rounds on VHS, but there was, at the time, no solid plan to make any additional films, nor was "Star Wars" the massive commercial presence it would come to be. As pointed out in "Spaceballs," however, "Return of the Jedi" merch was still lingering in stores; one of the running gags throughout Brooks' film is that the characters themselves own "Spaceballs" tie-in products.
Indeed, in the film's funniest meta-gag, the evil Dark Helmet (Rick Moranis) and Colonel Sandurz (George Wyner) rent a VHS copy of "Spaceballs" and fast-forward to the scene they're in.

Even during the open-world genre’s earliest days when developers were forced to rely on smoke and mirrors to make their visions come to life, the very concept of open-world gaming always felt like the future of the medium. The idea of being left to your own devices in a massive digital world where nearly anything was possible was one of those things we used to only be able to dream about. Now, you find variations of that concept in many of the best modern blockbuster titles.
“Variations” is certainly a word worth keeping in mind when you’re thinking about the history of open-world games and what separates the good ones from the bad ones and great ones. Conventional wisdom once told us that open-world games would only get better as technology improved and the size of those worlds grew. While that has sometimes been the case, there are...

Superman’s incredible 85-year history is defined with intricate detail and unique understanding by those who’ve known him best – the authors, artists, filmmakers, actors and experts tasked with propagating his legend through every medium – in the latest Edward Gross omnibus, Voices From Krypton, published by Nacelle Books. The hardcover book is now available via Amazon, online retailers and popular bookshops, with an e-book edition also available.
Hailed as the most comprehensive examination of Superman in history, Voices From Krypton begins in the mid 1930s with the character’s creation by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, and concludes with the announcement of the next big screen adventure, Superman: Legacy. Topics range from Superman’s appearances in different mediums to the individual actors who’ve played the character, from Superman’s Silver Age to present day iterations, and from the subtleties of capturing the Man of Steel to the tentpole moments of his past 85+ years.

The Kills — the indie rock duo featuring singer Alison Mosshart and guitarist Jamie Hince — have announced the impending arrival of their first new album in seven years, God Games.
Ahead of the LP’s October 27 release, the band has shared the latest single, “103,” a love song set amid the ever-increasing, life-threatening heat waves plaguing the planet.
The visual for “103” was directed by Steven Sebring and makes use of a custom-built 3D film studio as the camera revolves around Mosshart and Hince, who — keeping with the song’s theme — don tanning goggles and solar eclipse glasses.

The Kills have readied God Games, their first album in seven years. The project is out in full on October 27th via Domino, while the new single “103” is available to stream now.
For God Games, The Kills tried a mix of strategies old and new. Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince composed its 12 tracks primarily on piano, a first for the duo, but recorded the LP with producer Paul Epworth, who the band have known for 20 years. They recorded the album in an old church, which presumably added to their signature sultry, blues-inspired sound.
New track “103” begins with crackling electronic percussion and guitar that rolls in waves as Mosshart sings about the end of the world. The deceptively calming song comes with a 360-degree music video directed by Steven Sebring that follows The Kills as they try not to melt under the sun’s rays. Check it out below.
Pre-orders for God Games are ongoing.
