The beginning scene of the family taking wedding pictures was shot in Tunghai University in Taichung. The funeral was is shot in the Affiliated Experimental High School of Tunghai University in Taichung. The wedding dinner scene was shot in the Grand Hotel in Taipei.

NJ Jian (Dad) is a fan of The Beatles. This is known from a poster of Quatre gars dans le vent (1964) that can be seen in the background of the family's home and from the fact that he listened to one of their songs (Baby It's You) using headphones while half-asleep in the office. He was vaguely singing along, proving that he knows the song well, despite it being one of the Beatles' lesser-known songs.
