Karl Valentins Hochzeit

Karl Valentin sees in the personal ads that a wealthy woman is looking for a husband. When he applies for the well-paying position, however, she's not what he expected; neither is the reception.

It's a fairly simple comedy and typical for 1913, just before the mass destruction of slapstick swept other forms of movie comedy from the screen for a few years. Valentin is a comic of regret and reaction, and if things finally get out of hand, it's miscalculation rather than malice from the tall, skinny Valentin with the putty nose and sad mien of a clown.

Mind you, I prefer slapstick, but that's personal preference. Take a thoughtful look and see what you can see in this.
