Ashton Kutcher and Katie Holmes were originally set to play the roles of Matt and Erica. They both dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.
The adult VHS tapes Matt keeps in his wardrobe includes: Penthouse: Dear Diary (2000), Ultimate Pet Games (1996), Emmanuelle: First Contact (1994), Midnight Tease (1994), and Penthouse: Pet of the Year & Friends (1999), which are all real. The tapes "Banging Wood", "In Diana Jones and the Temple of Poon," and "Wet Slappin'" are fake.
