- This 2D platform game can be frustrating to play as some of the levels are considered to be the hardest ever including Target Terror, Haunted Hall, Gusty Glade, Web Woods, Windy Well, Castle Crush, Toxic Tower, Screech's Sprint, K. Rool Duel, Jungle Jinx, Black Ice Battle, Animal Antics, Krocodile Kore are levels that many players consider to be the hardest as it's easy for the characters to die and hard to get to the goal.
- The level Haunted Hall is very creepy, as it involves a skeleton ghost chasing the Diddy and Dixie Kong on a roller coaster.
- The gates in the level Target Terror that can open and close when hitting the Check and X Barrels respectively resemble guillotines typically used for beheading victims. However, they only simply knock away Diddy or Dixie Kong if crashing into the closed gate after hitting an X Barrel that closes it or if failing to hit a Check Barrel that will open it.
- This game is considered quite a bit darker than the first game.

- Kaptain K. Rool falls out of his ship and hits several pieces of the island before being chewed on by sharks and surviving.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
- The game over screen shows Diddy and Dixie inside a furnace.
- In the level Rambi Rumble, Rambi will be dropped unexpectedly into a bee hive, and suddenly Rambi will be chased by a giant bee called King Zing. Fast-paced music will suddenly start playing. This scene will be considered both intense and frightening.
