Clark & McCullough steal a police car and pose as cops...just for laughs!

While the plots to Clark & McCullough's films hardly were normal or believable, "The Iceman's Ball" takes weirdness to a new level! The story begins with the pair being tossed out of the Policeman's Ball...presumably because they aren't police. However, they respond by stealing a police car and driving it to the local station to drop it off. However, they soon decide that it would be fun to be cops...and the pair don uniforms and go on patrol! Soon, they are sent to break up a loud party....and end up increasing the volume considerably as they lead the revelry! What's next? Well, they call the police commissioner (James Finlayson) and tell him to join them! Little do they know that one of the women who is in partying with Clark is the wife of a beat cop (Vernon Dent) whose car they stole at the beginning of the film! And, guess who has just arrived at the party?!

So, is it any good? Very much so. In fact, it's better than most of the team's short films. Clever and pretty funny and, as usual, McCullough has very little to do in this one.

The short arm of the law

Bobby Clark and Paul McCullough star in this comedy short about a pair of men who steal a police car from the officers arresting them and decide to go with the flow. They turn the police car into the station and the new Commissioner James Finlayson thinks they're real cops and they keep the car.

Of course Bobby Clark thinks the police car is quite the chick magnet and in his short subjects that's what he always has on his mind. Ironically enough the cops to who the car is really assigned, Walter Brennan and Vernon Dent, also use it as a chick magnet.

The state of law enforcement in this town is something else when the law is represented by Finlayson, Dent, and Brennan. In fact Finlayson always known as the chief nemesis of Laurel&Hardy is funnier than Clark and McCullough as truly the highest graduate ever of the Keystone Police Academy.

The Iceman's Ball is a good introduction to Clark&McCullough.
