As the programme name implies, it was broadcast live. The very first programme on 23 October 1983 was the victim of hacking: when Ian McNaught-Davis and John Coll were demonstrating how to receive emails, they discovered a sarcastic (though fortunately not obscene) message from a hacker. It turned out that during rehearsals the floor manager had told the presenters what the account password was, and this had been overheard by programme guests who were waiting in the green room. One of them passed this information to a friend who hacked into the account.
