Charm wins the day

Threadbare animation but good cast of animal characters and good voice acting with reasonable story lines make this a better than good show. I like it as an adult. The reboot is very bad in every way .

Hooray For Clifford
zsofikam20 June 2016
Part of the magic of Clifford is that it puts an extraordinary spin on a normal situation. At first glance, it's a show about a girl and her dog, but the dog is the size of a house and bright red. The show is divided into two stories, usually one featuring Clifford and his friends T-Bone the yellow bulldog, Cleo the purple poodle, and Mac the blue whippet (?), and one featuring owner Emily Elizabeth and her friends Charlie, Jetta, and Vaz. Interspaced between the two stories is a segment where Emily Elizabeth reads to Clifford from the book detailing the exploits of Speckle and his friends Robbie the panda, Darnell the duck, Luna the raccoon, and Reba the bunny. The final segment after the second story is Clifford's Big Idea, where Clifford and friends are presented with a problem that is solved with the segment's "big idea" such as playing fair, showing respect, and helping others. Themes of the stories themselves include how to be a good houseguest, why it's important to avoid prejudging others, and taking responsibility for one's actions.

Fun And Entertaining

I love watching this cartoon with my two dogs Moe and Annie. My favorite dog is Mac because he's funny. Clifford and his friends usually hang out at the beach when Emily Elizabeth is away. Clifford and T-Bone are best friends. Meanwhile there's The Howard's next door neighbor Mr. Bleakman, Emily Elizabeth's friend Jetta, T-Bone's owner Sheriff Lewis, and Cleo's owner Mrs. Diller

This is the perfect show if you just want to feel like a kid again. Nothing but relaxed and content without a worry in the world.

A classic reborn

Never have I been happier to see a character stand the test of time. I remember reading so many Clifford books as a child, and now I get to not only read them to my son, but see all new stories first thing in the morning on tv! Teaches valuable lessons and morals, entertains adults as well as kids...makes PBS worth watching again.

I love this show. I am 35 years old now. This is the best show for kids and older people. I think pbs did a good move adding this to the kids line up of shows. I love way Clifford and dog pals talk. The stories are the best as well. I know that people need a show for kids and not a lame one either. I loved the circus and Clifford with the elephant. Too much fun!

Yes, It's a Kids Show, But Adults Can Enjoy It Too!
cairn623 April 2006
As I child I learned to read with the books from the "Clifford" series. Not only were the stories lesson teachers, but they were funny as well. After channel surfing one afternoon, I came across "Clifford the Big Red Dog" on PBS. I have to say that it is quite good! Yes, it is indeed a kids show, but not sticky sweet to the point that adults in the room have to leave the area. In fact, for animation buffs, this show proves that traditional pen and ink cartoons still have life, and reaches back to the days where cartoons were simply told in short ten minute episodes, and not all new animated programs have to depend on computer 3-D animation, bathroom humor, or violence to entertain. As for kids....this show can only spark an interest in them to pick up a book and read.

This show made my childhood
orange_wood-1782024 August 2021
I remember watching this as a kid every morning before school. Now I have a kid of my own who seems to like the show as much as I did. Watching it with him brings me back to my childhood, it's such a great wholesome show. Clifford will never be the same without John Ritter. That's why I'm only showing my son the older Clifford's when John Ritter voiced Clifford.

The Best Clifford series of all
mikeyoung-6446519 July 2023
What a pleasure this 2005-6-7-8 series is. Huge budgeted live action versions that followed on the big screen and worst of all the current low quality television series, do not come close to the original series. Also the excellent Warner Bros., "Clifford's Puppy Days" and " Clifford's Really Big Movie" are the heart of this iconic and treasured publishing brand. Actors such as the wonderful John Ritter and Head Writer Sunday McKay crafted wonderful storylines and acting, Children over many demographics have enjoyed these programs over the years and PBS is still the most trusted children's brand in the USA. My kids and now Grandkids have enjoyed and indeed learned from this very big dog!!

Clifford needed a kennel
ThunderKing67 September 2020
This show proves why dogs are dangerous mutants whether they do things on purpose or not. As well proves dog owners are oblivious and are reckless.

Clifford and his gang of mutants and on numerous occasions have put people in danger and has destroyed property numerous times. The neighbor doesn't like Clifford and is seen as an ugly old grouch because of it. Everyone who likes Clifford and mutts are happy and cool.

The owner Emily, her friends and her parents allow Clifford to get into mischief by not keeping watch of them.

This show teaches that it's okay to be reckless, irresponsible, manipulative dog nutters. Emily and other dog nutters act stupid after the dogs do something awful.

The old guy is seen as a villain because he has no dog and hates Clifford. I don't blame him. Dogs and especially giant dogs are dangerous. Clifford can eat a child and no one would know because no dog owners are keeping watch. Dog owners are known for not caring when their dog does something wrong to other people.

Verdict: Sure the dogs sometimes play hero. I guess putting Clifford into slavery is only 1 use for a dog like Clifford. The other dogs would be shipped to Yulin. Otherwise, what's the point?
