Strictly for Julie Strain fans
pumaye1 July 2002
A Z-movie not worth your time, if you are not a great fan of Julie Strain. She is the leading character in the story (to talk about a story in a mess like this is probably be very positive on this movie) and the movie revolves around her aces (i.e., a wonderful pair of breasts). She is good in the role of the good-hearted high class prostitute, coming from the lowest level of the post-holocaust humanity presented in this movie (a clash with a meteorite has destroyed life as we know it and the survivors are divided in classes like Time Machine's Morlocks and Eloi, but this time the good ones are the humblest of the survivor), and she gives her fan plenty to remember about, with several nude scenes, but the mess she is in is really astonishingly bad. A classical Corman new-era made for video movie, but one of the worst I have seen (and if you want to see Julie in all her glory, buy one of her Penthouse videos instead)

Very silly

Warning: Spoilers
BATTLE QUEEN 2020 is a Z-grade sci-fi action movie that's more a skin flick than anything else. The statuesque scream queen Julie Strain plays the titular character, who runs around a lot in form-fitting outfits and battles members of an evil organisation that have enslaved the country in some dystopian future nightmare. The film is a mish-mash of bad acting and silly action scenes, although inevitably the emphasis is very much on acres of bare flesh and sexual situations shoehorned into the story. It's trite and all very silly.

Well, I suppose it could have been worse. Not sure how, exactly, don't care to think. Don't you love it when they try to add softcore to sci-fi, and don't get either? What were they thinking? I wonder if it actually made any money.

Queen 'B' Julie
helltopo13 April 2002
Not bad considering the low budget, but considering the title, Julie Strain does very little fighting, which was a disappointment, but her body is amazing for a woman nudging 40. Standard 'B' movie fare with the standout performance coming from a nunchuk wielding kung fu dominatrix played by Eva Dawn Nemeth. Unfortunately, like Strain she doesn't have enough action in this movie - and incredibly the pair of them don't face each other in combat!. This could have been a sleaze masterpiece, but as it is, fans of low budget sci -fi it won't be disappointed.

NO! I WILL HURT YOU!

Warning: Spoilers
The Earth has been hit by an asteroid and has become a two tier society. The Elite take young women and turn them into comfort creatures with Gayle (Julie Strain) being their instructor...but she has not forgotten her underground low tier roots or family who she sneaks food.

If you have ever seen a Julie Strain movie before, you know what to expect: Poorly choreographed scenes, a bathing scene, a sex scene, and a Julie Strain interview extra where we see her modest home. She now has a maid as it looks like her kid sister has moved out. As a film, the plot is closer to soft core production than an action SF movie.

Film has sex and nudity. Julie looks like her augmentations had augmentations. Minor full frontal. Plus a lot of silicon extras.

Battlequeen 2020

Warning: Spoilers
Julie Strain gets star treatment as a "mistress" over prostitutes, culled from "the underground" to "service" the "elite", those chosen few who are able to live above the not so pleasant confines containing the less fortunate. You see the earth has become afflicted with another Ice Age thanks in part to a meteor, and so those fortunate enough to have all the money and power live above ground in a lavish compound while most are burdened with underground rat-and-filth-infested prisons and grimy corridors.

Strain is madam who trains "new recruits", girls lifted from the underground to provide pleasure to those with power, providing them a comfort and refuge from poverty, sickness, and starvation. She is in love with Jeff Wincott(..who plays Spencer), the head honcho of the upper-ground establishment, who is actually much older than he appears, his youth kept vital through "rejuvenation" experiments, thanks to scumbag doctor, Braxton(Bill Baker)who extracts blood from the underground youth. Spencer's twin brother is withering away and dying because he will not take the blood of innocents. Brian Frank is Manson, another "elite" whose soldiers are dwindling in number thanks to arch enemy, Joad(Paul Rapovski), a former "elite" who decided to rebel when he discovered how the rejuvenation process worked, forming a coalition of underground resistant fighters sickened of being governed under such tyrannical rule. Soon Strain will join them after finding Braxton attempting to remove blood from a young girl under her care. Along with the girl(..who, as an adult, narrates the film), Strain will join forces with Joad, hoping to overthrow Manson and Braxton, who have relinquished command of upper-ground from Spencer. Eva Nemeth is Priscilla, Manson's female "muscle", clad in dominatrix outfit, wielding mean knun-chux, and defending him when he calls on her.

Being a Corman production(..under his New Concorde label), you can tell that old sets were probably used from other past movies(..also depending on some cheap computer graphics and matte artwork for background work). Strain is often naked(..she certainly rarely keeps her breasts under wraps), either bathing her bare flesh or getting all cozy with Wincott. She also gets to go female warrior on her foes, using martial arts to combat her enemies. Too bad Strain never faces off with Nemeth, who instead engages in a battle with Rapovski's Joad. Rapovski is another who is often engaged in combat with Manson's henchmen, most of the time with little trouble in wiping them out. BattleQueen 2020 seemed to have footage excised so that it could get a R-rating, particularly soft-core sexual situations which are cut short. I was indeed hoping to see more action between Strain and a protégé under her tutelage..

oh... where to begin?
dvgulliver13 July 2006
Warning: Spoilers
All life outside the compound is supposed to be long gone after the asteroid hit. And yet, the compound is surrounded by old growth trees. Hmmm. I'm thinking... the timber industry should be thriving! Fortunately, there are lots of scenes of women taking long, soapy showers, for no reason whatsoever. So the compound really ain't so bad, I guess...

So, um, all people live in this compound. There are ruling classes of immortal men who kill other people and use their body parts for the immortality machine. Or something. I'm really not sure. And then there are a bunch of naked chicks who exist to pleasure the ruling class. Or something. And then there are tunnels filled with poor starving dying people who want to rebel, but can't. Or something. It's hard to tell.

Why don't all the people in the tunnels go live in the woods? Oh yeah, the immortal people cruise around on snow mobiles, making sure no one escapes. But with all life lost except for what's in the compound, and the trees, why bother? Why watch this movie at all? Why did I spend $3 to buy a copy? Oh yeah, it was cheaper than renting it. Only now I'm stuck with it.

Avoid this movie the way you would avoid eating food served by a sweaty person covered in open sores. Even the nakedness and sex is lame, as the lead "actress" is so fake it's hard to stomach.

Blech.

Hinder Sight is 2020
NoDakTatum9 December 2023
Julie Strain teams with Roger Corman for a terrible science fiction epic shot with a budget equal to the amount of change under your couch cushions. A giant asteroid has hit the Earth and wiped out most of the population. Some do survive. The Elites are a group of cigar chomping high rollers who have plenty of mistresses and little care for the normal folk (yes, just like the U. S. Congress). The rest of the people live underground, where they hold out that the rebel army, and you just knew there would be a rebel army, will deliver them from the Elites. Strain is Gayle, the head mistress of the Elites. She is busy sleeping with the Elite leader, Spencer (Jeff Wincott). Crazy Dr. Braxton (Bill Baker) has underground dwellers kidnapped and takes their brain glands, keeping the Elites immortal. Military style leader Manson (Brian Frank) is tired of Spencer's softening with the underground people, and plots a coup. In the meantime, Gayle meets a cute little girl, and you just knew there would be a cute little girl, and young Clare (Jade Kroll) shows Gayle that there is more to live for than just constant wealth and sex...I guess.

As with any Julie Strain film, I marveled at her immense screen presence, and how her physical stature dwarfs all the other silliness going on. Most of the film is shot on a cheesy soundstage that looks like it was rented in between porn shoots. The special effects are awful. Cheap computer animation is everywhere. The script can be blamed on four writers and an "additional writing" credit. Plotlines are introduced and dropped- Gayle's brother, little sick Billy, new mistress Michelle- all especially noticeable in an eighty minute film. D'or's direction is standard, you cannot show the world your true cinematic vision with a two room set, a five dollar budget, and half a dozen clueless extras. Listen for the voiceover, as a grown up Clare laments her days spent in the brothel. Or Gayle's hypothermia treatment, where warm water is cascaded over her chest. Or the goofy actionless escape sequence, where the narrator must tell you what happens, instead of the audience actually seeing a fight. Or the laughable finale, with some of the worst computer animation ever rendered. Enjoy "Battle Queen 2020" on a "bad movie" level.

Not as bad as I was expecting...
snortch21 July 2003
I was expecting this movie to be pretty bad when I rented it, but after watching it, It's actually a pretty decent movie! Be advised, that I'm a "B post-holocost-type-scifi-movie" junkie. What I didn't expect when I rented it, was that this was this movie is ALMOST a porno.

All in all, it was a pretty decent movie, not all that bad of one to spend a boring, lonely night watching.

Unpleasant teaser
Sam-2856 September 2002
In the movie, we have the elite, the underground and the opposition. The elite are brutal and violent. The underground is treated very poorly yet submissive. The opposition is out there but that is about all we know about them. It is not clear how it all fits together. I guess I was hoping the story would improve but instead the story was just too predictable, typical and violent to be entertaining.

There are plenty of pretty women but except for Julie Strain we are only teased by the other women, as if Julie Strain was jealous of the younger women and did not want them to get more attention. For those that would prefer to not see bare breasts, there is enough of Julie Strain to be distracting.

Almost
warrior-2122 May 2001
I went in seeing this movie hoping to see some very hot scenes of Julie Strain and all the girls in this movie. My wish if you can say that was not fulfilled, and instead every time something started happening another scene would pop up. I think that there is a unrated version of this movie out there, but I only found an "R" rated version. My vote of a "9" was because of Julie Strain's scenes and some of the other girls. The other reason that I gave it such a high score is because it is almost perfect, with the rest that had either been cut altogether or is in the unrated version would make it a "10". The movie was a very good look at another aspect of Julie, so rent but be forewarned I think it is still lacking enough erotic feel.

"Do you think they're watching us? - They're always watching."
Dr. Gore9 July 2004
Warning: Spoilers
*SPOILER ALERT* *SPOILER ALERT*

Another Julie Strain B-flick. This time Strain is the head mistress for the Elites of the future. Apparently there was some sort of apocalypse and an ice age has covered the Earth. So now the Elites live above ground and the rest of humanity hangs out in the tunnels. You know the Elites are special because they are always smoking cigars and wearing tuxedos. If you're an Elite, you must be puffing away on a big, fat cigar. It's in the Elite rulebook. Soon Strain will question her mistress existence and seek the help of the rebels. Many breasts will be exposed before the climatic battle.

All right. I admit it. I rented this B-epic to see Strain take her top off. Good news. Strain gets topless on numerous occasions. Eureka. There is also a very brief girl/girl scene where Strain and another woman put on a show for the camera. "Do you think they're watching us? -They're always watching." Strain knows what to do when the camera is on her. Thank God for that.

Although there are many good things about Julie Strain, being athletic is not one of them. She is utterly unconvincing as an action hero. Strain has feet made of lead. She's good at walking or standing or having sex. That's about the limit of the physical activities she's good at. The filmmakers knew this and delayed her fighting scenes until the end. But "BattleQueen 2020" has plenty of T&A to make up for its cheap sets and bland action. If you're a Julie Strain freak, you should check it out.

One last thing, the girl that really caught my attention with this one was Eva Nemeth. She was the leather outfit wearing, S&M hooker with nunchucks. She did not speak one word during the movie. She has a great fight scene at the end using her nunchucks against the rebel leader. She was one hard bodied B-warrior. The IMDb tells me that some of her other movies are called "White Slave Virgins" and "Lesbian Slave Desires". Hmmmmm...What to rent next? Hmmmmmm...

Julie Strain ROCKS!!!!

Warning: Spoilers
"Battle Queen 2020" is an excellent vehicle for amazon beauty Julie Strain. She is tough and yet tender (SPOILER: hey, check it out when she takes an orphan under her wing!). If you ignore the nudity, this movie has an excellent storyline. That's all I'll say for now.
