Well, it's not Shakespeare - but if you have a Chihuahua . . .
rathornton26 December 2003
OK, I will admit that this movie is a take-off on Home-Alone. I will even admit that the movie will never ever win an Oscar. BUT - if you are a dog owner, and especially a Chihuahua dog owner like I am - this movie ROCKS! It is a cute - WAY over the top movie about a hero Chihuahua who thinks it is a cat. But that isn't even the funny parts. The funny parts are when Ping "becomes" Macaulay Culkin (who named that kid anyway) and beats up on the bad guys. It is a stupid movie for most, but for us Chihuahua owners, it is a wonderful alternative to the Legally Blondes (those folks should be arrested for dressing that poor little dog - only kidding). Anyway, Ping! is a delightful movie if all you want to do is smile and giggle a few times. I myself am an action movie guy, but I do love my little Chihuahua (Dimples) so I guess you could call me soft for enjoying this flick. If it makes me smile, even once, it isn't a waste of celluloid. Laughter is a hard commodity to come by today and this flick produces a small amount of it. I own it, but then, I also own a Chihuahua - so go figure.

An unabashed rip-off of "Home Alone", poorly done!
nraok2 March 2002
The stars (?) - Jones, Reinhold, and Howard must have been in dire need of new swimming pool liners to allow themselves to appear in this per- fectly dreadful and shameful rip-off of the Home Alone series. Even the voice-overs for the animals are off-character. The gag stunts, which are the raison d'etre of this genre, are pathetically uninventive and, for the most part, unfunny. Entertainment folk must eat like everyone else, but surely the people associated with this debacle could find some other means by which to fill their bellies than to empty those of unsuspecting viewers.

MY 4 YEAR OLD LOVES THE MOVIE
baby6014127 May 2004
I never even heard of Ping until my 4 year old child was watching it on television, and now we have went and bought the movie and my little girl watches it all the time. we have already watched it twice today. She absolutely loves this movie and even I have actually started to like this movie and i figured i better since it looks like we are going to be watching it a lot here in the next few months. It is actually a cute movie for children. It is like a mini Home Alone show for kids. I would have to at least rate the movie at least a 5 maybe even a 6 depending on how sleepy i am. my 4 year old loves this movie and i am probably going to have to buy another because she is probably going to watch it so much it is going to get old.

As a dog lover, I laughed out loud!
viewer-5223 February 2003
This is a dog version of Home Alone--stupid, but funny. I laughed out loud at parts--as when the chihuahua barked at the burglers through a megaphone to sound like a huge dog. This is a fun movie to watch when you just want to relax and laugh at something silly.

It's not that serious

People on here are rating this movie to harshly, it's cute and it's funny, I was able to sit through and enjoy it. To me that's all that matters! I love this movie.

the Dog Version of Home Alone
sandlot199227 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
As a Dog Lover, I watch a couple of Dog Movies such as "Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey", "Air Bud", "Lady and the Tramp", "101 Dalmatians", "Cujo", "Beethoven", "Lassie" (1994), "Old Yeller", "Bingo" (1991) and many other dog movies to choose from but this obscure family movie with the dog is really silly in away. the plot follows a Chihuahua who gets captured by the Dog Catcher (played by the Incredible Hulk's Lou Ferrigno) and gets adapted by Ethel Jeffries who gets mistaken for a cat despite her being nearsighted as Mr. Magoo and makes it a gift to her book-loving granddaughter who refuses to have a pet ever since her parents passed away, there are even a few other characters including Lucretia a goth girl who is Haley's babysitter, Drac Lucretia's goth boyfriend but soon breaks up with him at the end, and two Bumbling Burglars played by Clint Howard and Judge Reinhold who are like Marv and Harry from Home Alone 1 & 2 in which they plan on robbing the Jeffries' Fortune. the whole plot to this family film is like the Dog Version of "Home Alone" and even "Babe" but without the animals mouths moving along with "Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey" and "Rusty: a Dog's Tale" even some pop culture references from "Looney Tunes" and "The Jetsons" which is kinda awkward to see in a family movie that you don't see on the Disney Channel, overall "Ping!" is yet one of those obscure family films you would want to watch every weekend night and one film that's kinda silly with some slapstick and a few fart jokes that you don't see in family movie and so I recommend this if your a Dog Lover!

Family Fun

Fun comedy in the spirit of Home Alone! Great scenes inducing some hysterical laughs. Judge Reinhold and Clint Howard are a perfectly matched comedy team. Shirley Jones appears as elegant as ever. The Chihuahua plays out as a perfect protagonist.
