A good Christmas cartoon

If you expect this film to be of the superb quality of a Disney film you are expecting too much from it. Having said that it is a very nice film. The voices used especially for the horse are really good and of course its a Christmas sets everything right sort of film. Its for children and as an adult I would let any child watch this film without worrying about its content. A couple of the songs in it are very catchy but all are sung well. Shelley Long nicely plays the Mum and one thing with Shelley Long I have never found her in a Children's film with anything objectionable to children in it. The artwork in the film is good the characters move with a good degree of naturalness and the storyline is a typical Christmas story. As an adult I really enjoyed it

Worst Dad Ever!

The voice cast is the only redeeming quality of this film. The animation is crude and the writing is absolutely atrcious. The main focus of the story is the fact that no one in the family is expecting a good Christmas because they have no money. The father goes out and sells his horse (who he uses for work & is his childrens only friend) to buy his kids a toy horse. The mother has absolutely no input the entire movie other than backing up the dad's poor decisions. The father spends too much time sulking around looking at items he can't afford. My wife also pointed out to me that the way the children's eyes are drawn is a little weird and distracting. Finally, the ending is a deus ex and doesn't make sense. That women needs to leave her husband and take her kids somewhere else. She deserves better.

A quaint little movie

A very cute little movie to watch. Its no masterpiece and is under an hour long. But for me as a child and now a bit older its still a very neat little film about Christmas. Its not trying to be something that its not, just being a short movie about a poor family trying to get through Christmas. While the kids are able to just enjoy Christmas showing the true nature of the holiday through spending time with family, the father wants them to have at least just one present. By this, he sells the family horse to pay for a Christmas present so they can have a good Christmas. Luckily, the family are able to wish the horse back with a Christmas wish and the father learns that Christmas is not about presents but family. I feel this movie deserves better, its nothing but a simple short story and succeeds in this greatly.
