If you’re looking for something a little different to listen to this holiday season, you’ve come to the right place. TheWrap found some “interesting” options to your standard Sinatra, Buble or Mariah Christmas tunes that’ll either have you singing along… or scratching your head.
“Snoop Dogg Presents Christmas in tha Dogghouse” Let’s just say the word “explicit” is tagged on to the title of every song. Like “My Little Mama Trippin on Xmas,” “Christmas in the Hood” and “A Pimp’s Christmas Song.” Snoop Dogg’s 2008 album may not be right for the kiddies, but his funkadelic rap style blends surprisingly well with holiday cheer.
“Sugar & Booze” “SNL” alum Ana Gasteyer showcases her singing talent in her new holiday album that she says “is a nod to the swing sound of the ’50s and ’60s but with a modern twist. It is festive, with a full-bodied sound,...

I'll be honest, I'm not a big fan of this time of year.
It's cold and wet and people tend to get sick. I get the need to celebrate. I actually love to celebrate.
As a Jew, I celebrate all the time and I'm not even talking about Chanukah. In fact, I'm going to let you in on a secret; Chanukah is a very minor holiday.
Jews have so many holidays throughout the year, i.e., Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Simchah Torah, Tu B'Shvat, Purim, Pesach, Shavuot, etc.
Chanukah is one of our smaller ones.
Sure, it's fun. The food is not half bad if you aren't on a diet and the presents are nice, but it isn't so big a deal in comparison to some of our bigger holidays.
Falling around the biggest commercial holiday of the secular world, i.e., Christmas, non-Jews got this idea that Chanukah was Jewish Christmas,...

Wow, when you play Jingle Bells in a minor key it becomes something right out of a campy horror story. It’s downright sad when you really listen in, which is probably why you’ve never heard it played like this. The way this sounds it could be a part of an Addams Family Christmas special if someone had the inclination to bring them back to the big screen or at least to TV. And it’s all because it’s being played in a minor key that it sounds so uniquely depressing. I do happen to wonder how many people have ever heard

Rebel Wilson attempted to sing classic Christmas songs using Google Translated lyrics on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
For "Deck the Halls" (translated: "The Homes Are Covered"), the Pitch Perfect 3 star sang, "the homes are covered with the bush; par alar alar, alar alar alar." Lines like "gay apparel" were translated literally to "untroubled garments."
Fallon also tried singing "Bells Make Sounds" to the tune of "Jingle Bells." And later, the pair duetted on "Walking in a Winter Wonderland," which translated to "I Ran Through the Land of Cold Unknowns.

When a Boston University professor set out to trace the origins of “Jingle Bells,” she had no idea that she would discover the song’s racist origins – or cause an internet controversy.
Theater professor Kyna Hamill set out to trace if Medford, Massachusetts, or Savannah, Georgia, was the Christmas carol’s birthplace, as both used as their claim to fame. Instead, she learned the tune was originally performed in blackface in a minstrel show as “One Horse Open Sleigh” at Ordway Hall on Washington Street in Boston.

‘Tis the season to roll out the jingle bells and let them ring for as long as it lasts, right? Chances are if you’ve been watching the traditional TV shows and Christmas movies you’ve heard Jingle Bells more than once now and might even be getting to the point that you’d like them to stop if only for a few minutes. The good thing is that you can always turn the programs off for a little while. The only downside is that if you have kids you might be hearing the song for a lot of days to come, at

Gwen Stefani is officially the new queen of Christmas!
The 48-year-old singer wowed fans with her NBC special, You Make It Feel Like Christmas, on Tuesday night, but it wasn't just her festive tunes and cute interstitials that made the show worth tuning in to (not that we were upset about Blake Shelton holding up mistletoe or an appearance by "Young Gwen"). She absolutely slay-belled the fashion game with ten amazing performance outfits.
The No Doubt frontwoman kicked off the show as our perfect present, shimmying to the classic "Jingle Bells" in a candy cane-inspired silver-and-red sequined leotard topped with a red bow.
Paul Drinkwater/NBC
Not only did "When I Was a Little Girl" make us weep, Stefani's mom also cried when her daughter performed it at the taping of the Christmas special. For the nostalgia-ridden ditty, the mom of three opted for a silver short-sleeved high-low dress with a full tulle skirt.

Tis the season to be...well informed. We all love Christmas, but how much do any of us actually know about why Christmas is the way it is? Here are 31 facts about Christmas trees, Santa Claus, and Rudolph that you (probably) didn’t know. Smarten up! 1. Christmas supposedly marks the birth of Jesus Christ on December 25. But there is no mention of December 25 in the Bible and most historians actually believe he was born in the spring. 2. December 25 was probably chosen because it coincided with the ancient pagan festival Saturnalia, which celebrated the agricultural god Saturn with partying, gambling, and gift-giving. 3. Many of the popular Christmas traditions today found their roots in Saturnalia: Branches from evergreen trees were used during winter solstice as a reminder of the green plants that would grow in spring when the sun gods grew strong. 4. These evergreen branches became the foundation of our Christmas tree. Germans are thought...

Mere seconds into the first episode, “Happy!” almost earns the exclamation point in its title. As Nick Sax (Christopher Meloni), a disgraced ex-cop with booze running through his veins, stares into a dirty barroom mirror, he pulls two pistols from his pockets and blows the back of his head off.
That’s a good thing — using the weird logic of the scene — considering how much blood was being kept at bay by the top of Sax’s skull. A flood of red sprays from his open cranium like water bursting from busted fire hydrant, and Sax’s joyfully exuberant reaction is mirrored by the new environment around him. As his innards paint the ceiling, a bunch of half-naked dancers twirl around the lobotomized cop to an electro-tinged version of “Jingle Bells.”

Every few years, CBS dusts off a minute-long animated holiday greeting that first ran in 1966. Now, more than 50 years later, it’s unveiling several new animated shorts that were inspired by that original spot.
Renowned for its graphic art design, the vintage greeting was designed by illustrator/animator R.O. Blechman (The New Yorker, “The Soldier’s Tale,” “Sesame Street,” Alka-Seltzer ads) and produced by animator Willis Pyle (“Pinocchio,” “Bambi,” “Mr. Magoo”). Because it’s a minute long (the standard back then, but unheard of now, as commercials are stripped to as quick as six seconds), CBS doesn’t have the opportunity to run it often.

I know Christmas is already passed, but I just came across this Batman fan art that I had to share with you. It basically gives us a hilarious visualization of what the classic Batman Jingle Bells Christmas song would look like. It has a smelly Batman replacing the wheel that he lost, Robin looking confused about laying an egg, and the Joker getting away. The art was done by Mauricio Abril, and here's The Joker singing the song in Batman: The Animated Series!

This choice will not surprise one person who has ever met me. Here's the history I grew up an only child. I unsuccessfully begged my mother for a brother or sister until she was well into her 80's. I discovered the Osmond Brothers during their One Bad Apple phase, which led me into a few unfortunate years of bell-sleeved shirts and fringed vests. The Osmonds' obvious joy at singing together, to say nothing of their vast musical talents, would bring tears to my eyes as I watched them perform. I knew that Andy Williams had discovered the brothers, and gave them their debut on his TV show. However, I was unaware that Andy and his brothers were the original clean-cut singing siblingsthat is until I saw this production number on an Andy Williams Christmas special Boy, were my eyesand earsopened This performance of Kay Thompson's Jingle Bells features the...

Love it or hate it, this souped-up arrangement of 'Jingle Bells' has become an iconic recording by the one and only Barbra Streisand. Of course, it's from her first Christmas album, which came out in 1967, but I was introduced to it in 1970 when it was released on a special promo album for Maxwell House coffee, along with cuts by Doris Day and yes Jim Nabors. I thought it was funny then, and I think it's funny now. I especially love the Brooklyn-ese reading of the word 'upsot.' It was all very sophisticated and slightly oddball to the young Jimmy Caruso, and takes me right back to Wexford, Pennsylvania, where I'd listen over and over on my little record player. Google that word, kids.

“The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” is ready for Christmas and in-house musician Jon Batiste loves all of the holiday music… except that one song where the Joker gets away because Batman has car trouble. “Jingle bells, Batman smells, Robin laid an egg. The batmobile lost a wheel and Joker got away,” Batiste sang before saying, “I’m not into that song.” Colbert then joked “Robin ovulated, somehow,” adding, “they kind of gloss over how the egg got out of Robin, but it’s a pretty upsetting image when you think about it” Also Read: Spot the Cool Batman Easter...

"I'm not really Stevie Wonder," the legendary singer Stevie Wonder joked onstage Saturday at the Sing world premiere at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
He added, "I can drive and everything. I swear."
But Wonder couldn't deny it was really him after taking the stage to perform a surprise set that included "Superstition" and "Jingle Bells." There were tears of joy and dancing in the audience as everyone was in awe of the surprise they were just gifted with.

Barack Obama got into the festive spirit on Thursday night when he attended his last National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony as president. Barack, his wife Michelle, and their youngest daughter Sasha were all on hand at the fun event, which was held at the Ellipse in President's Park in Washington DC. Not only did stars like Eva Longoria, Marc Anthony, and Kelly Clarkson get in on this year's fun, but the president also couldn't hold back when it came to belting out a few Christmas carols. In an adorable moment that probably made Sasha say, "Omg, please stop," Barack sang "Jingle Bells" alongside Santa Claus and Chance the Rapper (or should we say Wrapper?). Michelle also made sure to participate, as she read The Night Before Christmas for a group of young children. Watch all the holiday fun in the video above, but fast-forward to the 11:25 mark if you...

You may remember pole-dancing clarinet player Paul Groslouis from his amazing rendition of Jason Derulo's "Wiggle," but his 2014 display of of holiday cheer (and a tiny pair of Santa-inspired shorts) was truly a gift to us all. Paul performed "Jingle Bells," complete with fake snow, lots of tinsel, and a cardboard sleigh. There's no way you won't be impressed by his skills - watch the hilarious clip above now. Update: There's a Hanukkah version too. Check out Paul in a giant dreidel below.

Jingle bells are in the air, and with them come visits from your extended family, loud noises, distracting decorations, guest appearances from grabby kids and many other sensations related to the holiday season.
It’s a lot to handle for a human, and it can be even more stressful for a dog who doesn’t have total understanding or control of the situation.
While some dogs enjoy the increase in activity and new experiences that come with holidays, an equal number of pups aren’t fans of change. That’s why it is important to be able to recognize signs of stress in your pet,...

Brolin told Harry Connick Jr. on his daytime talk show Harry, the 76-year-old actor revealed how he convinced his wife, the legendary Barbra Streisand, to lend her voice to his new film I’ll Be Home For Christmas.
“So I saw the film last night and the first thing I heard was your wife’s one in a billion voice,” Connick Jr. says. “I’m thinking to myself how much money did they pay to get Barbra Streisand to sing in this film, then I realized, ‘Oh it’s your movie.

I am, as I have previously noted, a big fan of Jim Butcher’s long-running series about the modern-day wizard Harry Dresden, a.k.a. The Dresden Files. The stories and characters are great fun and the books just keep getting better, and more complex, and deeper overall. If you haven’t encountered the series before, I highly recommend it; and of course Wikipedia has a handy list of all of the books if you need to see where to start.
At Dragon Con in 2013, I sat down with Jim to hear more about book fifteen of the series, Skin Game. It was a delight talking with Jim and getting to learn the latest on a world I’ve grown to love. And now, fortunately, I’ve gotten to have that experience again – this time, at Dragon Con 2016 and with book sixteen, a.k.a. Peace Talks. Jim shared all...

They're baaaaaack. After almost two years, the ladies from Jersey return for a new season. In the season 7 premiere of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, "Jingle Bells and Prison Cells," there are familiar faces and a couple of new ones as well. While waiting anxiously for the climactic return of Teresa Giudice (saved for the very end, of course), viewers get to see what Melissa Gorga and Jacqueline Laurita have been up to and meet what I hope will be two moderately interesting additions.

Terry Crews has an amazing set of pectorals. They bounce, they nip-synced "Ebony and Ivory" with Jimmy Fallon, and they even did a victory gloat after Crews's lip-sync battle against Mike Tyson. Brooklyn Nine-Nine put his pecs to good use for the holidays, having Crews, Andy Samberg, and Chelsea Peretti perform "Jingle Bells," but really it's all about those pecs. You can't fit them into your stocking, but boy, can you try.

Well this sounds like a holly, jolly, royal Christmas! With less than 24 days until the highly anticipated holiday arrives, Prince William started off the festivities with some singing for the season. According to People, the proud dad to Prince George and Princess Charlotte traveled to Chelsea in London for a holiday evening concert of carols that helped benefit the Henry van Straubenzee Memorial Fund. While Kate Middleton stayed home for the evening, Prince William was able to mingle with mother-in-law Carole Middleton and sister-in-law Pippa Middleton. And while the Christmas playlist remains top-secret, we can only hope "Jingle Bells," "Frosty the Snowman" and even Mariah...

When I reviewed Minions here ate We Are Movie Geeks back in July, I wrote: “Those goggle-eyed scene-stealers from Despicable Me (and its sequel) get their own showcase in Minions, a colorful, fast-paced prequel that kids will have fun with ……There’s a lot of fun to be had with the period music and references to Nixon, the moon landing, and the Swinging London of that time period. I’m not sure small children will laugh when the Minions pop out of a sewer lid on Abbey Road just as the Beatles are making their famous crossing, but I did. Voiced by the film’s directors Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda jabbering in a helium-fueled garble, the Minions are pure slapstick gold….” (read all of my review Here)
