History's Mysteries: Doomed Sisters of the Titanic (1999)

*** (out of 4)

Very good episode in the series takes a look at the tragedies that would hit the Olympic, the Titanic and the Britannic, three sister ships that all met horrid fates and one connection, Violet Jessup. Those unfamiliar with these three ships should really enjoy this documentary as it does a very good job explaining their history in such a short running time. At just over 40-minutes there's certainly not enough time for a well-detailed documentary but I think enough good information is given here to where new fans will probably be born and then they can search out more detailed stuff. The documentary starts off talking about the competition between ship companies back in the day and this is what caused three three ships to be built. From here we learn about what happened to the Olympic, then the Titanic sinking and then Britannic's sinking only to wind up with another issue with Olympic. The documentary really does a good job at telling the stories and especially talking about Jessup who was on board all three ships when disaster struck. Each of these stories on their own are pretty amazing and to think that one person was involved with all three just seems like something Hollywood would make up.
