Kurt Vile has announced a new EP called Back to Moon Beach, out November 17th via Verve. Along with its lead single “Another good year for the roses,” the singer-songwriter has also mapped out a run of North American tour dates for 2024.
Though Back to Moon Beach is an EP by name, it would be a proper LP for most other artists, clocking in at nearly an hour long and nine tracks. In a press release, Vile himself says it’s more like a “Kv comp,” adding: “The first 6 tracks — which are the ones that fit on a single LP — are new to the world, with one foot in the not-too-distant past and the other with one tiny toe pointing toward the future. Together my feet are like a couple spanning time together.”

Kurt Vile, whose prolix verbosity and augmented guitar solos do not lend themselves to brevity (much like this sentence so far), will release a record this fall, on Nov. 17 to be exact, that he has titled Back to Moon Beach, which he heralds today with a new song called “Another Good Year for the Roses” (yes, this sentence is continuing), since it’s one part of an hour-long compendium of tunes he cheekily calls an “E.P.,” or “extended play” (not to be confused with a long-player, much like this...

Who’s got a beard that’s long and white? Who comes around on a special night? Must be … Caroline Kennedy?
Kennedy, the United States Ambassador to Japan, stars as Santa Claus in two holiday-themed videos that have gone viral in Japan.
In the first of two clips posted this week to U.S. Embassy Japan’s official YouTube channel, the daughter of John F. and Jackie Kennedy sports a Santa suit and dances to “Must Be Santa” on the roof of the ambassador’s residence in Tokyo. “Santa’s in the house,” Kennedy declares before toppling down the chimney with a sack of presents.

We may not have enjoyed our time visiting “Paper Towns” – read our review here – but that doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate the film’s soundtrack. While we’ve already discussed the official soundtrack release, now that the film is out, check out all the music. Director Jake Schreier and music supervisor Season Kent were able to fill the one hour and fifty-three minute long movie with twenty odd tracks. Some of the bands and artists used in the final film but left off of the official soundtrack release were, Bob Dylan, Bon Iver and the collaboration of Billy Bragg & Wilco. “Paper Towns” is out now in a theater near you and the official soundtrack is available at all retailers. Check out the full list used in the John Green-adaptation, below. Swingin Party - Kindness Moments - De Lux Must Be Santa - Bob Dylan Taxi Cab -...

One of our most anticipated titles at Sundance 2013 is The Captain, the short film collaboration between directors Nash Edgerton and Spencer Susser - who have made some of the most memorable short films in recent years: Lucky, Spider, Bear and I Love Sarah Jane.Like Nash did with Bear, in which he cast fellow director Warwick Thornton in a small but crucial role, not to mention his "Must Be Santa" music video for Bob Dylan, which had directors Glendyn Ivin and Luke Doolan prancing around a Christmas party, The Captain stars another director chum. This time Eagle vs Shark and Boy director Taika Waititi is the star of the show. Here's the synopsis:a man wakes up with a hangover, only to discover the consequences of...

Not content to just be known as “Joel‘s brother,” Nash Edgerton has, in his own time, crafted original and surprising work — the short film Spider and its follow-up, Bear, being the most notable — that’s now landed another job with Bob Dylan. In preparation for his 35th album, Tempest, the planet’s greatest living musician has put out a music video for its debut track, “Duquesne Whistle,” which Edgerton injects with his own violence-laced humor.
What starts out as a sweet chronicle of one man’s bid to garner a woman’s attention transforms, unexpectedly, into the comically (?) violent account of how it could all go so hideously wrong. (You could probably spot him yourself, but, yes, that’s Joel Edgerton as the Irish cap-wearing thug.) Dylan makes an appearance alongside some tough-looking fellows, though the visual appearance is little more than a funny cameo.

Because we are nothing if not consummate Bob Dylan connoisseurs, we would be remiss if we did not direct you to immediately watch the video for "Must Be Santa" from Christmas in the Heart. It's after the jump!

Yup, that's Dylan dressed as the Mad Hatter with the Rachel in wig form. Why? It doesn't matter why. That party looks awesome.

Is Bob Dylan nuttier than a fruitcake? The evidence strongly suggests yes in the video for “ Must Be Santa.” The infectious polka, which borrows heavily from the repeating theme of “12 Days of Christmas,” is a track off of Dylan’s first holiday CD, “Christmas in the Heart. “ There’s a mildly heated debate about whether the album is a joke or really Dylan’s sincere effort at holiday cheer. Well, the video isn’t going to help clear up matter. It all takes place at a Christmas party in a lovely home in an era that’s impossible to decipher. Could be current, could...

Columbia Records announced today that Bob Dylan's Christmas compilation, Christmas in the Heart, will hit stores before Halloween even rolls around. The folk deity's 47th album is set for an Oct. 13 release, and will include the usual holiday ditties like "Here Comes Santa Claus," Winter Wonderland," Little Drummer Boy" and "Must Be Santa," the lyrics of which will likely seem more profound when sung from Dylan's lips. ...
