Italian black-humour comedy on AIDS
GMeleJr30 January 2000
SONO POSITIVO (for the HIV Virus), for you trivia lovers, was the last film JoeD'Amato, director of 1970's horror films, worked on. He appears as a "hardcore sex film" producer here. He died in 1998. This is the only name most people would probably recognize from this cast featuring little-known Italian players. However the cast is as good and authentic as they are little-known. The film, like its countryman LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL, will stir up controversy, making jokes about such a serious subject, and pretty obscene ones at that, many will say. Paradoxically, rather than being a motive for sadness, the HIV positive status of this family and friends group offers the occasion they needed to rediscover happiness and accept the true nature of each one's personality. So, anticipated tragedy provides an amusing glimpse into human relationship. But does it end as a tragedy. Watch it and enjoy. Raunchy humor, but fun, and contemporary.
