Somewhat dated but very charming and quite beautiful (in Smilebox).

Fortunately this film has been restored and released in the wonderful Smilebox format simulating the look of the original Cinerama screen. At times the content is extraordinary with beautiful cinematography and picture composition, during other segments its a bit dated and slow. I was surprised to find that some of the dance performances were absolutely riveting! The Busby Berkley like choreography for the "traditional dance sequences" being timeless and mesmerizing, while the ballet sequences were simply beautiful ! Modern young audiences won't find much here because there is no CGI or paper thin heroes uttering childish cliches, but more mature audiences will appreciate the artistry provided. There is no mention of politics throughout the film, so you should not let that be a concern. I have all of the available Cinerama Smilebox films and this one is about the middle of the pack in terms of restoration quality and overall content, "Search For Paradise" being the best and "The Golden Head", the worst. Available in BluRay/DVD from the manufacturer and on ITunes in digital form. Too bad younger audiences missed the Cinerama era, It was a great period in film-making and these restorations prove it!
