Ryan Reynolds was born in Canada and started acting at a young age, landing a role on a teenage soap opera. He then proceeded to work in both Canadian and American television, ultimately finding minor fame on the moderately successful ABC sitcom “Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place.”
Movies followed with the low end of “Buying the Cow,” then a remake of “The In-Laws” and into bigger successes in “Blade: Trinity,” “Definitely Maybe,” and “Adventureland.” His career went into high gear by being cast as “Green Lantern” and starring opposite Sandra Bullock in “The Proposal.”
Reynolds managed to pull off the unthinkable in 2016 when he managed to get a Golden Globe nomination for Best Comedy/Musical Actor for “Deadpool.” The film had incredible box office returns, but it’s a rare achievement for a superhero role to bring major awards attention.

When Ryan Reynolds was young, he wanted to be Don Knotts. Knotts, for those not in the know, was a boggle-eyed American TV star in the 1960s, best-known for slapstick on The Andy Griffith Show and playing an accountant who turns into a fish in the film The Incredible Mr Limpet.“I wanted to be the zany neighbour on a sitcom,” says Reynolds. “My expectations were on the floor. I thought I would go down to La and do improv comedy and maybe do a couple of acting jobs on the side. Fail miserably and then go back to school.”
Some of that happened. Reynolds travelled from Vancouver to La. He did a sitcom (Two Guys,...

After encountering some stumbling blocks, Relativity Media is finally ready to begin building their cast and crew for the comedy Contractors. They first acquired the rights to the spec script by Bob Fisher and David Hemingson back in 2007. Later Walt Becker, who has directed such comedies as Old Dogs, Wild Hogs, and Buying the Cow, was attached to helm, but now Becker is out and Hot Tub Time Machine helmer Steve Pink is in. According to The Wrap, Pink has secured the directing gig, thanks in part to his revision of Fisher and Hemingson's script. The movie will focus on two underachieving contractors based in the Hamptons, who are hired to build a dream house for a local millionaire and his girlfriend. What seems at first like a sweet gig gets complicated when the duo discovers the rich man's lady is an ex of one of these blue-collar buds. Further...

A turkey. Over stuffed. More sour than cranberry sauce. As flat as a thin layer of mashed potatoes. More painful than the post-turkey dinner walk to the couch. Take your pick of these Thanksgiving euphemisms that, each one of them, describes the new comedy Old Dogs, a film so void of successful humor, it could be eligible for Best Drama at next year’s Golden Globe awards if it were any good. It’s not. In fact, it’s downright infuriating to watch so much effort put into something so delusional of itself.
You can thank director Walt Becker, who didn’t do enough damage to John Travolta’s career when he put him in a biker gang with Tim Allen, William H. Macy, and Martin Lawrence, for much of Old Dogs’ failures. Becker’s come a ways since his days of dishing out R-rated fare like Van Wilder and the straight-to-video Buying The Cow.

Walt Becker has been tapped to direct Wild Hogs, a comedy for Touchstone Pictures being produced by Tollin/Robbins Prods. The script, by Brad Copeland, revolves around a group of frustrated middle-aged biker wannabes who hit the open road in search of adventure, only to encounter a real Hell's Angels group. Copeland is an Emmy-nominated writer on Arrested Development. Mike Tollin and Brian Robbins are producing. Kristin Burr is overseeing for the studio. Becker helmed the cult comedy hit Van Wilder as well as the comedy Buying the Cow. He is repped by ICM, Matt Luber of Nine Yards Entertainment and attorney Warren Dern.

Tennis champion Pete Sampras was a vigilant onlooker at his bride Bridgette Wilson's new film Buying the Cow (2000) - because it was a little too saucy. Bridgette gets hot and heavy in the romantic comedy with co-star Jerry O'Connell (photos), who was a little worried about her hot-headed husband. He says, "It was great, except Sampras was right there. We had this running joke when we were getting ready to shoot the scene. I kept saying, 'Look out for low-flying Spauldings!'"...
