- Although the US and Japanese versions of the game are exactly the same, there are two known differences. First, the US version's main menu does not have a difficulty setting like the Japanese version which lets you choose Very Easy, Easy, or Normal gameplay. Second, in the US version, Wesker's Battle Game can be obtained by simply completing Chris' Battle Game, unlike the Japanese version, which in order to get Wesker's Battle Game you must find his sunglasses somewhere inside the normal game.
- The original game was released on the Sega Dreamcast. It was subsequently released in an enhanced version on the Playstation 2 (and re-released on the Dreamcast) with the title "Code Veronica X", which contains about 10 minutes worth of additional and alternate cutscenes including: - An extra scene where Wesker introduces himself to Claire as she is about to enter the palace. He predicts that now that she is there, her brother Chris is sure to show up as well. He proceeds to give her a good beating, getting close to killing her, but upon a call from his henchmen, he reconsiders. As he leaves, he tells her that she may be "of some use", and that he will let her live "a little longer". - Alternate dialogue when Wesker discovers Chris is on the island (same animatics). Originally, Wesker expresses surprise with Chris' presence, and then says that he has a welcoming gift for him, some "company" to keep him busy. In the new dialogue, Wesker is no longer surprised to see Chris (due to the previous restored scene), saying "Oh little fishy, come see my hook!" instead. - A longer fight between Wesker and Alexia: originally, Alexia just slaps Wesker around, and Chris tries to use the distraction to run up the stairs. However, Alexia notices him and cuts off his escape, turning on him instead (the cutscene doesn't show what happens to Wesker); in the extended scene, Wesker uses his superhuman abilities to fight Alexia, to little avail. When he notices Chris, he says that he will let Chris handle this since he is one of his best men, and leaves the room. Chris again tries to run up the stairs, but Alexia cuts off his escape and turns on him. - In the original version, immediately after the final fight with Alexia, Chris enters the elevator directly outside the staging area, and ends up in the jet hangar where he leaves with Claire; in the new cutscene, Chris finds Wesker keeping Claire hostage. He follows them around through several rooms and corridors, until Wesker releases Claire and reveals that his men have recovered Steve's body to harvest the T-Veronica virus. Chris tells Claire to go and wait for him at the jet, while he has a final fight with Wesker. The fight is brutal and Chris nearly dies, but he finally manages to drop several iron beams on Wesker. He survives, but a sudden explosion creates a sea of fire between them and burns Wesker's face, ending the confrontation in a stalemate. They anticipate the next time that they will meet, and both go their separate ways before the base is destroyed. Chris then proceeds to the jet hangar.
