cheaply fast n furious
kairingler24 December 2012
i wasn't really thrilled with this one,, i thought that it was gonna sorta b like a cheap budget version of fast and the furious like urban gritty style.. well i was wrong not enough cars or women. mainly a main character who the police are after,, he does bad things leads them on chases and such, i just feel like that the cover of the video box ripped me off, i gotta stop buying movies based on the artwork cover thats on the darn box,, i mean the movie wasn't' the most horrible thing that i ever watched there's prolly bout 100 below this one on my list, i watched the whole thing just to give it an honest review, i guess i was expecting more out of this movie, but in retrospect i shouldn't have been expecting much being low budget,

watchable......just

As an aussie, I am ashamed of this film... I know we have much better actors than what we have to put up with in this flick. Steve Bisley and Terry Serio are good, seasoned actors who must have done this under duress.. I have seen better produced car chases in the keystone kops. The script was all over the place, and badly performed. Warwick Youngs character (Dasha), is totally unbelievable as a policeman, as is the entire police force portrayed here. A few (like maybe 4) hot cars are shown, but little more action than a few tyre smoking donuts. The exception being a reverse driving scene well done by the stunt team. Both sides have ample opportunity to kill, but choose to maim and embarrass instead...real tough!!! With better acting and editing, this movie could have been enthralling, but I only sat through it....well, I don't know why really!!

I Have to admit, I feel this could have geen better with some Hollywood glam
bbickley13-921-586648 March 2015
It's a pretty predicable, but has some unique elements.

Common content resembling Fast & Furious without the slick style you get with American cinema.

Criminals were blander than I'm use to.

The relationship between the main protagonist and his ride or die chick was perfect. For all the Scarface wannabes out there, this chick was exactly who you want by your side.

The car chases were pretty good, but My American eyes are use to more spectacular Carsploitation, by this point.

Overall, It's definitely worth a look at on DVD.

Fast and the Furious meets Driving Miss Daisy
highrevdomestic26 September 2005
I'll admit it, Fast and the Furious and Driving Miss Daisy are decent movies. Even though I would probably prefer Driving Miss Daisy over F&F, just because it was more realistic, but if you liked F&F, you still won't like Redlined.

I didn't expect much out of this movie since it was $5 at Wal-mart and I expected right. I love all kinds of films, foreign/domestic, new/old, etc/etc. So, I'm open to new actors and Aussie dialogue.

This movie was pretty pathetic though. The dialogue, setting, and story were pretty boring to start with and didn't get any better. I sat through the whole movie, waiting for it to get good, and it never happened.

I wouldn't suggest this movie to anyone. I'm not sure which one is worse: Seed of Chucky or Redlined.

Total waste of my life !
roverx17 October 2015
Put this film on as a friend said to watch it just for the scenes with Steve Bisley, from the get go though it made no sense, the opening sequence is pointless, I got two thirds through this film and lost total interest and threw it in the bin, there is only one other film that I have done this with and it was John Carpenters Ghosts of Mars.

The films only redeeming feature is Steve Bisley who is basically playing the Goose from Mad Max 1, he even uses the same dialogue.

In a nut shell this film is someone saying "Wow The Fast and The Furious was good, lets make our own version, but for $10,000 and with no talent or script" AVOID !

Absolute waste of space

Now we know where the plot for the Fast and the Furious came from, and it wasn't just from the Racer X article. The scary thing is, this makes the Fast and the Furious look like an Oscar contender. Avoid at all costs!

Its just really bad!
notsoalice20 December 2002
Possibly the worst 70 odd minutes of my life, im very in to the car scene and things of this nature and i can safely say this did not show anything good in cars, action, story, auto culture, acting, editing, directing and whatever else you can think of, even the opening credits are awful and the soundtrack is not even up to pornography of the 70's standards.

Im sorry this is so harsh but it was painful to watch and im glad i didnt spend my money to see it.

So Bad It's Awfully Good
bnastali20 September 2021
Come on, guys. Slow car races, check. Uncool modded cars, check. Funny acting not meant that way. A hide and seek with autos and storage containers...mega terrible, but entertaining. Here is a street racer movie with zero street cred. Awesome trash, if that's a genre. Also called Redlined in some versions. A very shakey eight!

Very Different...
rainstorm15916 January 2004
The reason that i got this movie was because it was on sale at Target for $6. The cover seemed interesting, so i decided 'why not'?

I took it home and started watching it, thinking that it was going to be like a "Fast and Furious" re-make. But it turned out that cars isn't really what this movie is about. I mean, sure the characters drive around in modified cars, but there is no real "street racing" as you might have expected.

Instead, it's more about this guy (the main character) who does many illegal activities, and the police want to capture him. So they blackmail another guy who knows the main character, into setting up a meeting so the police can catch him.

I think that the movie is set in or near Sydney, Australia. So it's kind of funny hearing the actors talk with Aussie accents, and saying things like "Ay, mate." But it was nice to see a movie that's not made in the USA, and feature actors whom we don't know. In the beginning, you might thing, "what is this!?!?" But give it a chance because as the movie goes on, you get drawn into it. So overall, i would give it a 7/10 rating.

A Good Plot Gone Bad...
ToReignInHell30 November 2003
In The Red (or Redlined, as the DVD is called) is a bad movie with a good heart. It tries to be The Fast and the Furious, but fails in almost every way.

The movie is about drugs, not about racing, despite it's claims to the contrary. There aren't any cars worth watching in the movie, nor any good racing scenes. All of the car chases seem to be going at a leisurely 30 MPH, giving no illusion excitement or suspense.

I picked it up at walmart out of their $5.88 bin, and for that price, I can't really complain. But having seen it, I wonder if I'll ever bother to watch it again.
