Kristen Stewart ("Twilight") and Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong'o ("12 Years A Slave") are in talks to star in another reboot of "Charlie’s Angels", as "...beautiful girls who live dangerously", to be directed by Elizabeth Banks ("Pitch Perfect 2") targeting a June 7, 2019 release:
Created by Ivan Goff and Ben Roberts for producer Aaron Spelling, the original 1976-1981 TV series line-up of 'Angels' starred Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett and Jaclyn Smith, followed by a "Charlie's Angels" feature (2000) starring Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu. That film's sequel was "Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle" .

Burning rubber on the small screen tonight is the first episode of Blood Drive, a new Syfy series that's both a lurid love letter to Roger Corman's Death Race movies and the gory, glorious drive-in days of old, while also making a mark with its own crimson-stained swagger. Taking place in a world circa 1999 where water is coveted above currency and violence is commonplace, Blood Drive is populated with intriguing characters looking to make it across the finish line in a cross-country race with a big prize and an even bigger penalty for losing. There is nothing else on television quite like Blood Drive, and with the series premiering tonight on Syfy at 10:00pm Et, I had the pleasure of speaking with lead actor Alan Ritchson about playing Arthur Bailey, a moral compass in a world gone mad.

The world’s first rollercoaster opened 200 years ago today — and since then, we’ve come a long way from the rickety wood rides of your great-great-grandma’s day. Here, the rides that will have give the most seasoned of coaster fans twinges of anxiety before take off.
1. Gravity Max at Lihpao Land Discovery World in Taiwan.
Taiwainians just may be the most daring coaster riders in the world. The Gravity Max coaster rises to 114 feet before the track “breaks,” sending riders down a 90-degree angle turn — meaning straight down — in a drop that’ll have your heart racing out of your chest.

While we are still waiting for more E3 2017 details to emerge (specifically, what games and developers will be on the show floor), it’s worth turning our attention to Pax East 2017, which is set to take place this weekend from March 10th to the 12th.
Pax, also known as the Penny Arcade Expo, is a series of gaming expos which take place around the world (specifically, in Boston, Seattle, San Antonio, and Melbourne), which focuses exclusively on gaming. Unlike other trade shows, the Penny Arcade Expo is open to the public, though it’s worth mentioning that tickets tend to sell out fast.
As you might imagine, there are plenty of developers and publishers that show off their upcoming titles at such events, and Pax East is no exception. As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, Sony has announced their lineup for the convention, where they plan to show off more than 25 titles,...

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pulitzer Prize winner David Auburn is talks with Sony Pictures to write the screenplay for the movie reboot of Charlie's Angels. Auburn is writing a new script for Charlie's Angels, after Evan Spiliotopoulos wrote an earlier draft for the film.
In September it was announced that Elizabeth Banks will direct the project and will produce with her husband Max Handelman.
The original 1970s television series followed three female detectives (Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith) working for a mysterious man named Charlie (whose voice was only heard). Back in 2000 Sony produced the first film version which starred Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu, which grossed $264 million worldwide. The 2003 sequel “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle” reeled in $259 million. McG helmed both films.
What do you think? Do we really need another Charlie's Angels reboot.

Since its original incarnation's success on television in the 1970s, there's been an attempt to revive the "Charlie's Angels" property every few years. Sometimes it's a success - such as filmmaker McG's first film from 2000 which scored good notices and healthy box-office.
Sometimes it doesn't work out though - like his sequel 'Full Throttle' or the ill-fated 2011 TV reboot. With talk of the franchise being revived once again, this time as another tentpole film at Sony Pictures, McG was asked this week by Collider about how it feels to be at a point in his career when arguably his most well-regarded film is being remade:
"That's just life. I always identify as a young person, but I've been around a little bit now. I'm not longer the youngest guy doing it. It's interesting. That one makes me smile and makes me happy because I love Elizabeth Banks...

Rewind to the early ‘90s and PC gamers were ditching control pads and joysticks for mouses and verb tables to embark on great adventures, thrilling quests that took them from the high seas to far off galaxies.
This was the age of the point-and-click adventure, a time when the pen was mightier than the sword, video game protagonists developed personalities, and rubber chickens came with pulleys in the middle.
LucasArts classics like The Secret of Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle jostled with long-running Sierra series Space Quest and King’s Quest at the top of the software charts, as gamers sought experiences with more substance than shooting anything that moves or stomping on turtles.
It was a glorious time for interactive storytelling, but adventure gaming’s heyday was short-lived. As a new millennium approached, the industry was transitioning towards 3D graphics and people’s appetite for pointing and clicking dwindled.

Charts a path to a future that refuses to get mired in nostalgia. Yet all the Star Wars notes are here, remixed into a glorious new arrangement. No Spoilers! I’m “biast” (pro): huge Star Wars fan…
I’m “biast” (con): … but was deeply worried about this new film
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
There’s no 20th Century Fox fanfare this time, of course, which is weird, because to this day, whenever I hear it, no matter what film it’s allegedly attached to, the excitable eight-year-old inside me pops up to whisper, “Maybe it’ll secretly turn out to be Star Wars. Thankfully, there is no Disney ident, either. X-wing fighters doing a flyover of Cinderella’s castle would have been an unpleasant reminder of how worried I was about the Mouse’s takeover of this franchise.
All those worries have been laid to rest.

Double Fine
Founded over ten years ago in July of 2000 by Tim Schafer, Double Fine Productions initially consisted of just a handful of ex-LucasArts employees who had all grown dissatisfied with the company’s shift away from traditional adventure games in favour of endlessly milking the Star Wars license.
Alongside former colleagues David Dixon and Jonathan Menzies, Schafer began to put together a small team of personnel, most of which he had previously worked with at LucasArts on titles such as Grim Fandango and Full Throttle. Working out of a clog shop in Los Angeles, the team would continue to grow in size over the next few years as development continued on the game that would eventually become Psychonauts.
Though sales were initially disparaging, Psychonauts was universally praised by critics for its wit and personality, earning it a cult-following that has only continued to flourish since the game’s release.

Following immediately on from the announcement that Double Fine Productions has teamed up with Adult Swim Games to create the futuristic side-scrolling game HeadLander, Double Fine founder (and game designing legend) Tim Schafer took to the PlayStation Experience stage to talk about the upcoming remasters of two classic games by his studio.
First, audiences were treated to the debut trailer of Day Of The Tentacle Remastered. The classic point-and-click adventure, which Schafer co-designed while he was at LucasArts, was originally released in 1993 as a sequel to Maniac Mansion and is often considered among the best of its genre. PlayStation Experience 2015 is kicking off in San Francisco today with the keynote speech. Sony set the bar pretty high last year with their inaugural conference, and their conference game generally has been strong in the last couple of years. Is this going to continue the trend, or is this where it all goes downhill? Let’s find out.
The keynote kicks off with an Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End trailer. The graphics are phenomenal. We see Nate meet up with his brother, Sam, voiced by Troy Baker, after a long time apart. It appears there’s dialogue options in the new game. The PlayStation friendly crowd cheered for that. No new gameplay was shown, but at this point, we don’t need it. And nor should we want it. Given the track record of Naughty Dog, Uncharted 4 should be a stellar action game, and the less we know about it the better.

The first Psychonauts is a classic. Its easily one of the most creative and interesting games to ever come out, and still stands as one of the funniest games ever released. It’s writing transcended its otherwise terrible gameplay, and its originality catapulted it into legend.
While the announcement was surprising, the idea of bringing back Psychonauts for a sequel isn’t, and so at the 2015 Video Game Awards, Tim Shafer came out and announced his pitch. A $3.3 million dollar Fig campaign to get Psychonauts 2. The game will continue the story of Raz from the first game as he visits Psychonaut headquarters and discovers its sinister secrets. Like the first game it’ll feature traveling into the minds of various characters and doing battle with their psyche, all while piecing together the larger hidden mystery.

As if it wasn’t tough enough to create one great game, doing so multiple times takes something truly special, the end result creating incredible products that continue to entrench themselves across the global gaming community, all the while establishing an identity for the developers in the process.
While memorable games are a prerequisite for a studio to attain greatness, the ethos by which they approach this is also important. Have they sought to redefine gaming genres or the entire medium in some way? Have they taken a stand against dodgy industry practices and shown that games can achieve success in ways that challenge the norm?
Here we commend those developers who have helped shape the games industry and drive it forward, with both their end products and approaches towards game-making overall. Some of them no longer exist, others have long since passed their golden years but still deserve...

Pitch Perfect 2 director tapped to bring private-eye action comedy back to the big screen more than a decade after 2003’s middling Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle
Elizabeth Banks, the actor-turned-film-maker who made her debut behind the cameras on hit comedy Pitch Perfect 2, is in talks to direct a remake of Charlie’s Angels, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Banks, best known for her role in the Hunger Games films and as the voice of hero Wyldstyle in The Lego Movie, would be in charge of reinvigorating a franchise that suffered in the wake of lukewarm reviews and middling box office for 2003’s Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. An earlier effort, 2000’s Charlie’s Angels, was well reviewed and scored $264m worldwide on a budget of $90m.

An earlier effort, 2000’s Charlie’s Angels, was well reviewed and scored $264m worldwide on a budget of $90m.

Sony set to hire Elizabeth Banks to bring Charlie's Angels back to the big screen.
Things went really rather well for Elizabeth Banks with her feature directorial debut this summer. She helmed Pitch Perfect 2, which proved to be a good hit in the Us especially, and in turn is leading to Pitch Perfect 3 (which is due in 2017).
Yet Banks may not be returning to direct that one (although she's a producer on the series too, as well as her work in front of the camera, so she'll still be involved), as instead, she may be heading over to Sony to direct the big screen reboot of Charlie's Angels.
Based on the hit 1970s TV series that originally starred Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith, Charlie's Angels first headed to the big screen in 2000. Then, Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu took on the three lead roles for director McG,...

It’s now twelve years since we last saw “Charlie’s Angels,” the three kick-ass women in a private detective agency working for the mysterious Charlie, on the big screen. A huge hit in the late 1970s when it emerged, the Aaron Spelling series was rebooted on the big screen by producer Drew Barrymore and director McG for a 2000 film, with Barrymore co-starring with Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu (and, in the first film, Bill Murray as Bosley), with a 2003 sequel, “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle,” following. Read More: Ronda Rousey To Lead 'Road House' Reboot A 2011 TV reboot was short lived, but Hollywood’s love for a well-known property will never go away, and The Hollywood Reporter now reveal that Sony are developing a new version. And in place of McG, they’ve upgraded somewhat, at least from a feminist-friendly point of view, by actually putting the...

In a recent interview, Dustin Hoffman said we are at an all-time cinematic low. Is he correct?
While Hollywood is enjoying a record-breaking summer at the box office, not everyone is having a great time at the cinema. In a new interview, Dustin Hoffman (Ishtar, Little Fockers, Mr Magorium’s Wonder Emporium) has lamented the state of cinema, calling it the worst it’s “ever been”.
But what do you think? We want to know about your best and worst years at the cinema. Did you have a memorable 1999 watching Fight Club, Magnolia, The Sixth Sense, All About My Mother and Being John Malkovich? Or was 2003 a disaster for you enduring Daredevil, Boat Trip, The Cat in the Hat, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle and Dumb and Dumberer?

This week, Entourage fans get to watch the boys bring their brand of Hollywood bro-ishness to the big screen, nearly four years after the TV series aired its final episode. Of course, it's far from the first cinematic adaptation of a TV series, but in this age of reboot upon reboot, it's notable that this one has migrated to the silver screen intact – it's a movie "sequel" featuring the same actors and characters as the original TV show.
Here's a short history of the many other TV shows that have continued their stories in the form of theatrical films.

From The Secret Of Monkey Island to Star Wars: Dark Forces, Simon looks back at some of the LucasArts' great early 90s games...
George Lucas has a lot to answer for. He gave us a sci-fi film franchise that fired our collective imaginations, and made us fantasise about flying amongst the stars in the Millennium Falcon. It was amazing, exciting and fun. And then he founded LucasArts - a studio responsible for some of the best games of the 80s and 90s.
No longer a game developer following the Disney buyout, LucasArts is now a publisher for other developers, which is a bit of a shame.
There once was a time, though, when they were one of the most exciting developers on the planet, and when the games they chose to publish didn’t rely solely on the bankable familiarity of a movie licence. I could spend many thousands...

There was once a time when the only way to gain the large amount of funding required to make a video game was either cough up the cash yourself – if you’re working as an independent developer – or have a big publishing company pay the costs.
Before 2012 there had been instances of indie game developers using Kickstarter and other crowdsourcing methods to raise money for their projects too, but these typically earned no more than $10,000 – with highest total ever accounted for being in the area of $100,000.
This all changed on February 8th 2012, when Tim Schafer (the mind behind such classics as Monkey Island and Full Throttle) and his company Double Fine Productions initiated a Kickstarter campaign with an original goal of $400,000. Within a month the total fund stood at $3.3 million, and so a new age of crowdfunded games had begun.

These days, developer Tim Schafer is known for his indie studio Double Fine, which has produced a diverse body of work, ranging from Psychonauts to Brutal Legend, both Costume Quest games, and recently the Kickstarter-funded Broken Age. However, the roots of Schafer’s development career go back to the 80s and 90s, when he worked at the now-defunct LucasArts and helped create iconic point-and-click games like The Secret of Monkey Island, Full Throttle and Day of the Tentacle.
One of Schafer’s final titles from his LucasArts tenure is also considered by many to be one of his best, that being 1998’s Grim Fandango. Besides being the company’s first adventure game to fully utilize polygonal graphics, the title was lauded for providing a rich cast of characters, as well as a very solid plot to back them up.

Grim Fandango is the stuff of video game legend. One of the last great titles from the golden age of adventure games—a genre that emphasized storytelling and puzzle solving over action—Grim was hailed as one of the category's very best upon its 1998 release. Unfortunately, a series of unfortunate events soon coincided to force the game out of print. Adventure games became a niche genre, so Grim was never reprinted in the Us, and all sequel plans were nixed. Two years later, Grim's director, Tim Schafer, would leave LucasArts, the studio where he made Grim Fandango and other classic...

1989, USA
Although e-sports have long been a part of video game culture since the early 70′s, competitions saw a large surge in popularity in 1989 when Universal Pictures produced The Wizard, about a trio of kids who make their way to a national Nintendo video game championship (Video Armageddon) for a grand prize of $50,000. The charismatic and rising star of television’s Wonder Years, Fred Savage, stars as Corey, a boy who escorts his deeply traumatized younger half-brother Jimmy (Luke Edwards) away from a group home and sets off on a cross-country trek, chased by their father (Beau Bridges), their older brother (Christian Slater), and a child-finder, hired by their mother to bring him back home. Along the way they meet little Haley (Jenny Lewis) and discover that Jimmy is a real prodigy when it comes to video games. They make a stop off in Reno,...
