- Some sex jokes. A character is shown making out with another one in a repeated clip/gag in episode 2.

- Unlike the movies, the swearing is limited to words like "Damn" and "Hell".
- Some episodes use the words "Fag" (In relation to it's double meaning in the US and UK), "Retarded" and "Gay".
- The DVD release of the show titled "Clerks: Uncensored" has live action segments featuring Jay and Silent Bob which also do contain strong language. Similar to "Ren and Stimpy" as there is both obvious and not-so-obvious profanity uncensored even on the show itself.
- Some of the profanity bits are even a bit stronger than the original movie. Plus despite what one said, this is the show uncensored, so there will be stuff in it on the DVD.
- Some persistent F-words every now and then, strong enough to be a hard TV-MA.
- Cinemax content advisory for the animated series: various, depending on the episode. For some, rated TV-MA-DLS for strong sexual content (SSC), graphic language (GL), others rated TV-MA-DL for graphic language (GL) and adult content (AC), some rated TV-MA-DLV for violence (V), graphic language (GL) and adult content (AC), and etc..

- Done possibly to give "South Park" competition, in some ways this show is even more vicious in the style of humor than the original movie could ever be. Lots of equal opportunity humor. Some intense moments, but so over-the-top it's not really meant to be taken seriously. Similar to "Ren and Stimpy."
