it's all about homosexuality
first thing I noticed about 'Forever and Always', is the lack of obvious references to homosexuality, hidden or not. at least, the movie is difficult to analyze. but if you think about it, you will only realize it is again about homosexuality, hidden underneath a whole lot of (useless?) images. in fact, it's a love story between a man and a woman, only the Kuchar fans know it's a love story between a man and a man. the kid from the couple, is supposed to be the result of their love for each other, but because here it's the love between men, it's but the question where this kid comes from. now we can say, the kid must be adopted. or isn't it? there are some creepy things to think about if you see the images of the kid without a pants. I guess that will be the reason Kuchar wrote a normal love story, love between men couldn't possibly be accepted in 1978. we can state this movie is about sexuality, but it remains a question what sort of sexuality, together with the big dilemma what this short movie really is about... is it a love story for homosexuals, or is it a cry to ban homosexuality? the short appearance of a drag queen, the art poems, the fallen apple, the cat in the mirror, the gay pride parade (here as a hippie festival), ... it's all about homosexuality. perhaps the title means there will always be homosexuality, no matter what happens.
