After a fall-off in popularity (and quality) throughout much of the 1990s, teen-skewing comedies were suddenly all the rage in Hollywood again at the turn of the millennium. The "Pygmalion"-inspired "She's All That" kicked off the craze, which included such highs as "10 Things I Hate About You" and "Dick," and more lows than I care to remember. These films were quite clearly the offspring of John Hughes' 1980s classics, but they could rarely come close to the mix of insouciance and sentimentality that made his films snap. They also weren't very funny, which didn't help.
The best film of this brief renaissance by far was Peyton Reed's "Bring It On," which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2020. Squaring off against criminals in any situation is harrowing enough without adding an armored car and a narrow bridge. The environment is a significant part of the strategic means to potentially violent ends, and Sylvester Stallone did not come to play in Lionsgate‘s Armor trailer.
Justin Routt directs Armor from a screenplay by Adrian Speckert and Corey Todd Hughes. Academy Award nominee Sylvester Stallone and Jason Patric star in Routt’s action-packed thriller about the lengths one man will go to save what’s left of his family and reclaim his own life. James and his son Casey are armored truck drivers tasked with delivering a suspicious package. After a violent ambush on the road, James and Casey become trapped until they discover the value of what they have been carrying and join forces to outgun and outwit their attackers.

Exclusive: Michael MacMillan retired from the world of television 17 years ago. Except, he didn’t.
The Canadian film and TV producer and business exec had made his name as CEO and Chairman of Alliance Atlantis, the company that built the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation franchise into a worldwide phenomenon, before its broadcast unit was sold off in 2007 to Canwest Communications and Goldman Sachs — making a lot of cash and taking a well-earned early retirement.
However, just four years later, he was back to do it all again.
MacMillan launched Blue Ant Media in 2011, originally as a Canadian channel operator, much the same as Alliance Atlantis had operated. However, just like his previous company, network ownership was only a means to an end — owning content was always the real play.
In the 13 years that have followed, Blue Ant has transformed from a channel operator to a content company playing in the international rights ownership game,...

It’s that time of the year again. Mariah Carey has been defrosted. “Black Friday” sales seem to last for weeks. Last-minute treks to the gym fail to absolve your guilt over that third slice of pecan pie. Unfortunately, we’ll also have to endure a litany of ill-conceived and poorly executed Christmas songs that are inexplicably resurrected every year, and will likely be until time immemorial. Here are 15 of the absolute worst offenders. Apologies in advance.

On Dec. 14, former President Obama spent time at a Boys & Girls Club in Washington DC, handing out presents and spreading holiday cheer. According to the Washington Post, Obama Claus shook hands and greeted about 50 middle school students at their after-school program. Donning a "cool dad" leather jacket and a festive Santa hat, he's clearly the most stylish Claus we've ever seen. "There's no better time than the holiday season to reach out and give back to our communities," he wrote on Twitter. Well, based on the video that Obama's communications director posted on Twitter,...

Wolverine is basically Old Man Peter Pan.
A new TV ad for Logan suggests that you don’t go see “The Beauty” this weekend, as in the just released Beauty and the Beast, but go see “The Beast” instead. I agree with the recommendation, yet if Wolverine is to be likened to any character from a Disney classic, it should only be Peter Pan. And with Logan the comparison is especially interesting.
Oddly enough, Hugh Jackman recently starred as the villain Blackbeard in a prequel to the Peter Pan story as we know it, and it was properly — pun intended — panned. Logan is the better reworking of the material, which originated with dramatic and literary works by J.M. Barrie. This time Jackman is the Peter figure in a kind of epilogue to the tale. Forget Hook, because Logan offers the only old man Peter Pan we need.

Denzel Washington just reconnected with a very special figure from his past.
While in town to promote his new film Fences, Washington stopped by an Atlanta nursing home to wish Miss Connie, his childhood librarian, a happy 99th birthday.
The two had not seen each other in nearly 50 years, but the now-retired librarian never forgot the day Washington, around 7 years old at the time, came to the children’s department of the Mount Vernon public library to ask for a book.

Boys and girls, the moral of the story on NCIS: New Orleans Season 3 Episode 6 is about communications.
That starts with the case of the week in which a top Navy Seal candidate, who was about to flunk out of training because of a dark secret in his past, was found dead.
It had to be something serious to make Corey Marchand, who had already passed on a basketball scholarship at a major program, walk away when he was so close to accomplishing his goal of becoming a Seal.
Something was haunting that kid. I thought I was helping him, but maybe I pushed him too far.

This year, the show has made the bold move of transplanting its characters from Texas to Northern California, the heart of Silicon Valley, as Cameron (Mackenzie Davis), Donna (Kerry Bishe) and Boze (Toby Huss) attempt to take their young company to the next level.

Three years ago, after deciding that he was finished as a competitive wrestler, Daniel Dennis bought an old '86 Ford pickup for $500, stocked a cooler with food and drinks and hit the road. Injured, tired and broke, the former University of Iowa wrestling champ figured that he would never hit the mats again after failing to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Trials in 2012. But while living in his truck for five months and a fifth-wheel trailer in California for two years after that, Dennis couldn't stop thinking about the sport he'd loved since age 8. Not to be confused with artist Joey Spiotto's fake books that simply serve as art pieces, Little Golden Books are actually releasing two new Ghostbusters-themed books this year for kids (and parents) to enjoy. Both are written by John Sazaklis and illustrated by Alan Baston, and there's one devoted to Ivan Reitman's original '80s version and one devoted to Paul Feig's upcoming 2016 film. Check out the synopses:
For over 30 years the original Ghostbusters movie has been giving fans of all ages laugh-out-loud thrills and chills. Now, for the first time ever, boys and girls ages 3 to 7 can enjoy the classic Ghostbusters in a lighthearted Little Golden Book retelling that will introduce them to Slimer, Ecto-1, and, of course, the Ghostbusters!Thirty years after the original film took the world by storm, Ghostbusters is back and fully rebooted for a new generation. The first time I watched Troye Sivan he was with Tyler Oakley, scrolling through the interwebs on their Tumblr Tag Challenge. He had a thick Australian accent and lovable awkwardness that would make any girl swoon.
I was mesmerized.
Since that day, Troye has grown from a shy adolescent singing cover songs into a camera to a confident 20-year-old superstar taking the world by storm. Thanks to YouTube, I have had a virtual front row seat for this amazing journey! And thanks to Troye's recent tour, I've now had a physical front row seat, too.
I arrived at The Fillmore Philadelphia around noon on March 4, 2016 -- nearly nine hours before Troye would take the stage for this leg of his Blue Neighborhood world tour. As with all YouTube-related events, there was already a line of fans stretching around the entire building and down the block. Some, I soon learned, had...

You can Superman Punch Vince, you can Stunner him, and you can punt him in the head… But Never jokingly grab him by the arm on television.
Being just ten days into Black History Month, the recent 90-day suspension of Titus O’Neil for playfully grabbing Vince McMahon’s arm on Raw couldn’t have come at a worse time for WWE, and the internet is not happy about it.
One can only wonder if there was any other baggage WWE considered prior to coming down on such a harsh ruling. Titus is one of the most well-liked and most humanitarian members of the WWE locker room. He constantly appears with Stephanie McMahon at events supporting Boys and Girls Club kids. It would baffle me to find out Stephanie didn’t come out to bat for him prior to his suspension.
