Copyright 1 October 1942 by Columbia Pictures Corp. U.S. release variously given as either 2 October 1942 or 18 February 1943. Australian release: 1 June 1944. 5,621 feet. 62 minutes.

NOTES: Charles Starrett's 87th feature and 54th western.

SYNOPSIS: As in most of Starrett's westerns, the title has little to do with the actual plot. In this one, Charlie plays a U.S. mail inspector who tangles with some road agents who've kidnapped a colleague in order to pinpoint a gold shipment.

COMMENT: Some great action scenes and an all-stops-out climax lift this entry well above the Starrett average. Even Bill Berke's direction is amazingly classy. He not only puts the action across with surprising punch - despite the handicap of studio fill-ins against an obvious process screen - but draws some likable performances from his players. Benjamin Kline's fine location work is another major asset. Only the pedestrian music score undermines the thrills, though Davis and company do warble through three or four quite pleasant songs.
