Of all the imaginative and colorful covers created by artist Tim Jacobus for R.L. Stine's Goosebumps series, Ghost Beach is one of the most memorable. A timeless depiction of a phantom that looks equally at home in vibrant ’90s nostalgia and classic EC Comics, the cover art for Ghost Beach is the shirt design featured in Creepy Co.'s new Goosebumps box set that also includes The Haunted Mask socks and magnet, as well as a One Day at HorrorLand jumbo sticker.
You can view the ghoulish goodies from the Ghost Beach apparel box set below (the socks and magnet can also be purchased separately), and we also have a look at other recent Goosebumps apparel from Creepy Co., including Night of the Living Dummy socks, a Say Cheese and Die! lapel pin, and A Night in Terror Tower enamel pin. Edgar Wright may be George A. Romero's biggest fan, and he certainly was a loyal friend.
On Sunday, the Baby Driver director wrote a lengthy, touching post on his website about his friend and hero, Romero, who died earlier in the day. He was 77.
Romero is credited as being the father of the zombie horror film genre, and it was work on films such as Night of the Living Dead, Dawn Of The Dead and Creepshow that changed Wright's life, he wrote.

When George Romero died at the age of 77, he was in the process of developing more zombie movies with the insightful Diy ethos that first put him on the map nearly 50 years ago with “Night of the Living Dead.” The horror community has embraced Romero over the years, and as the decades wore on, he went from being one of the genre’s most exciting contributors to its preeminent guru. Here’s an overview of the factors that contributed his legacy.
The Modern Zombie Movie
While the initial concept of zombies dates back to a mix of African and Haitian folklore, George A. Romero cemented the modern vision with his seminal 1968 classic “Night of the Living Dead.” While the word “zombie” is never uttered in the film, his spin on the lurching undead forever changed pop culture. The director cemented this legacy with five more films in the “Night of the Living Dead” series,...

Although filmmaker James Gunn is best known for the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise, earlier in his career he wrote the screenplay for 2004’s “Dawn of the Dead,” a remake of George Romero’s 1978 cult classic of the same name. With the passing of Romero at 77 on Sunday after a brief battle with lung cancer, Gunn took to Facebook to express his gratitude to the man who inspired his creativity and was, as Gunn put it, “a part of my life for a long, long time, in so many different ways.” Also Read: George A Romero, 'Night of the Living.

The death of horror film legend George Romero hit Hollywood hard, evoking words of sympathy, praise and gratitude, both from colleagues who worked with him and those who only hoped to one day. Here is but a very small sampling of those paying tribute. Sad to hear my favorite collaborator–and good old friend–George Romero has died. George, there will never be another like you. — Stephen King (@StephenKing) July 16, 2017 Romero has passed away. Hard to find words right now. If you’re a comic book fan and you aren’t happy to be alive right now, you’re doing this life thing completely wrong. Why shouldn’t you be screaming from the rafters about the latest live-action comic book movies starring a host of your favorite characters? It’s like constant euphoria all the time.
Even though we’re living in the era of comic book everything, not all of the satisfaction boxes have been ticked, because there are still too many great characters that we’ve yet to see in the live-action universes. Undoubtedly, they’ll probably find their way onto TV or film at some point in time, but there are 8 characters in particular that should’ve made their silver-screen debuts a long, long time ago. I mean, Howard the Duck has appeared in three films already, including a horrendous solo film, so there’s simply no...

Although he's best known for bringing life to the modern zombie with Night of the Living Dead and its sequels, filmmaker George A. Romero also used his camera to capture the intense suspense of the National Football League through several documentary films in the ’70s. Airing tonight at 8:00pm Et on the NFL Network, the latest installment of NFL Films' The Timeline examines the iconic horror director's unique relationship with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and it looks like an insightful way for any horror fan to kick off their Halloween season.
If you can't catch its premiere tonight, don't despair, because The Timeline: Night of the Living Steelers will air again on Thursday, October 6th after the Cardinals/49ers game (around 12:00am Et), as well as on Saturday, October 8th at 6:00pm Et. In the 1950s, independent film was just as keen to stick its nose in the atomic blender as the Hollywood big boys. Of course, budget restrictions frequently left most of the monsters wanting, be they big or small. But sometimes a shot of quirk was enough to stand apart from the Tinseltown terrors. I give you Fiend Without a Face (1958), a low budget romp content with showing less until it has to show it all, with giddy results.
Produced by British company Amalgamated Productions and distributed by MGM (in the States), Fiend was sent out on a double bill with The Haunted Strangler, a Boris Karloff vehicle. With a combined budget of 130,000 pounds, the double feature brought in domestic and international receipts of over $ 650,000 dollars, filmic diplomacy at its finest.
Filmed in Britain but taking place in Winthrop (?), Manitoba, Canada (never heard of the town, and if I haven’t drank in it,...

Jack Black plays children’s horror writer Rl Stine in a scrappy yarn that brings a horde of his creepiest ghouls together
Plans for a film based on Rl Stine’s bestselling spooky kids’ books date back to 1998 (a Canadian TV series ran from 1995) when Tim Burton was set to produce a big-screen adaptation. Nearly two decades later we finally have this FX-heavy Poltergeist-y romp. Ed Wood writers Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski take “story” credit on a yarn that casts Jack Black as Stine, and finds the multiple demons of his various bestsellers coming to life when new neighbour Zach (Dylan Minnette) unwittingly raids his personal library.
It’s a cute device, enabling Night of the Living Dummy’s titular creep, Slappy, to join the diminutive ghouls from Revenge of the Lawn Gnomes, The Abominable Snowman of Pasadena and a host of other plants and zombies in an attack on sleepy Madison,...

R.L. Stine's bestselling children's book series Goosebumps is headed to the big screen, and below are ten of the scary monsters that will appear in the live-action film. Let's see, we got a pumpkin-headed monster, a pirate, a vampire, a mummy, a scarecrow, a nightmarish clown, a gypsy woman, a zombie and a dummy. The dummy is a fan-favorite, who is named 'Slappy.' He'll be the film's main villain, controlling the other monsters. He first appeared in R.L. Stine's Night of the Living Dummy. My favorite is the pumpkin-headed monster. I'll have to duck for cover when that scary clown appears. Ugh, clowns. The film will star Jack Black ("School of Rock"), and is being directed by Rob Letterman ("Monsters Vs. Aliens"). Letterman previously worked with Black on Gulliver's Travels and Shark Tale. Goosebumps was previously adapted into a live-action television show for four seasons on Fox Kids Network,...

Happy Monday! Did you need some nightmare fuel to help you get through this severed work week? No problem, because the Goosebumps movie has unleashed a series of character posters, giving us a chilling look at what'll be going bump in the night next year. Nerdist has shared 10 images from Goosebumps, but chief among them is the little guy up top. Slappy might seem harmless enough - just a beat-up, old ventriloquist puppet. But this dummy has an insatiable thirst for mayhem. He popped up in R.L. Stine's kid-friendly horror novels, Night of the Living Dummy 1-3, Bride of the Living Dummy, Slappy's Nightmare, Revenge of the Living Dummy, and more. It.s little wonder that he's popping up in the live-action Goosebumps movie. Directed by Gulliver's Travels. Rob Letterman, Goosebumps is set in a sleepy little town that gets a rude awakening when the various monsters and ghouls...

Generations of horror hounds were ushered into the genre via R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps books. Siting atop the shelves of libraries around the world with their vibrantly colored spines just waiting to be grabbed by young readers, the influential series is being brought to the big screen by Columbia Pictures next summer, and a meme maker for the upcoming feature reveals familiar faces from the page that will create scares onscreen.
The Goosebumps meme maker is now available for fans to use. The online workshop allows users to take official images from the film and write original captions to display in memes. Many of the images show monsters from the film that fans will recognize from several Goosebumps series. We knew that Slappy the Dummy, a recurring core villain from the series, will be featured in the film, but as the movie’s official images below show, the tiny terror...

Announced at Nycc, prepare for an undead epic like you’ve never seen before in Return of the Living Deadpool #1 – the follow up to last year’s smash hit limited-series Night of the Living Deadpool! Fan-favorite writer Cullen Bunn and newcomer artist Nik Virella take you to a world overrun by undead Deadpools!
To “cure” the horror of a zombie outbreak, the Merc With a Mouth used his own healing factor to save the day. Any zombie that ate Deadpool transformed…into another Deadpool!
“So there are thousands of Deadpools, all of them originating from the one and only Wade Wilson,” says Bunn in an interview with Marvel.com. “Every time a zombie takes a bite out of one of these Deadpools, the zombie becomes Deadpool. But the ‘copy’ is degrading from rebirth to rebirth. You know how Deadpool has numerous personalities? Well, these newly created Deadpools start to latch...

Welcome to The Last Horror Blog, a biweekly column on all things horror. More zombies on TV with a Resident Evil series in the works – With AMC’s The Walking Dead already a huge hit, it’s only a matter of time before we see more zombie stories on the small screen. Constantin Films looks ready to add to the undead apocalypse with newly announced plans to develop a series based on film and video game franchise Resident Evil. It's looking like we'll get a TV show centered on Capcom’s popular game series following the debut of the sixth film in the franchise – which probably won’t reach screens until 2016. Will zombies still be all the rage by then? Seems like a safe bet. Cameron Romero launches Night of the Living...

Introduction
Welcome to the first installment of “Living Pictures on the Small Screen,” a weekly column dedicated to animated programming on television. Cultural commentary inevitably comes with bias, and I wanted to create this column in appreciation of the people and shows that helped me overcome my own bias regarding animation. Like most kids in my socioeconomic sphere, I grew up watching cartoons. Some of them were legitimately good (Batman: The Animated Series and Rocko’s Modern Life) and some of them were simply there when I turned the TV on after school (Inspector Gadget and Cow and Chicken). Once I started taking film and television more seriously as an adult, it was hard not to associate animation with childhood. It was even harder to appreciate animated films and series–which I had to view from a distance, since I wasn’t witnessing real people on the screen–alongside things...

“Don’t touch me, I don’t want to be a pharmacist!” – Nick Frost and Simon Pegg have cameoed in-character for Phineas and Ferb.
A TV cameo can be a strange but brilliant delight. From seeing Monica swoon over ‘the muscles from Brussels’ in Friends to witnessing Peter Griffin and Homer Simpson uniting on screen – cameos and crossovers sometimes jar a little, but are almost always good fun.
Today, we’ve got one to report on that seems gleefully random and silly – Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, in-character as their Shaun Of The Dead roles, popping up for a little chat in a Phineas and Ferb episode entitled Night Of The Living Pharmacists. Here’s the clip…
We’re told George A Romero also cameos as a reporter named – wait for it – Don Adaded. Geddit? The episode looks like a lot of fun, even if the target audience are too...

Mondo-Con was last week, but you can still get in on the action with a series of prints set to be released at a random time today. Mondo is releasing six (6!) prints that were previously only available at Mondo-Con, and they are all pretty great. Francesco Francavilla has created a poster for Afterlife with Archie, which is a comic series about Archie in a zombie apocalypse. Francavilla does the art for the series. Alex Ross designed a poster for The Iron Giant (It was previously on sale at Mondo-Con). And finally, there are four posters for the Night of the Living Deadpool comics miniseries published earlier this year, from artist Jay Shaw.
Check them all out below, and watch @MondoNews on Twitter for on sale info sometime today.
Poster by Francesco Francavilla. 24"x36" screen print. Hand numbered. Edition of 275. Printed by D&L Screenprinting. $50
Poster by Alex Ross. 27"x15" screen print.

Disney has released a clip from their upcoming Shaun of the Dead themed episode of Phineas and Ferb, which features Simon Pegg and Nick Frost reprising their roles of Ed and Shaun.
The episode is called "Night of the Living Pharmacists," and it is obviously inspired by the classic zombie movie, Night of the Living Dead. In the episode, "Doofenshmirtz's latest "-inator" accidentally turns the citizens of Danville into contagious Doof-zombies who run rampant all over town."
The episode also includes the voices of George Romero, Noah Wyle, Bella Thorne, Ariel Winter, and Cloris Leachman. The one-hour episode airs Saturday, October 4th at 8pm on Disney Channel. It looks like it going to be a really fun episode.

There’s never a dull moment when Jack Black is around, and today’s Goosebumps discussion panel proved it. Sharing the stage with friend and director of the film, Rob Letterman, the two brought an effortless humor to the proceedings as they discussed their time working together on the film.
This led to the exciting reveal of the first sizzle reel for the upcoming film. Only a minute or two in length, it successfully relayed the level of humor and charm Jack Black is known for in his younger audience films. Playing a fictional version of Goosebumps author R.L. Stine, Jack Black is a campy, creepy recluse who appears dead set on keeping his daughter from straying too far from home. This situation leads a new neighbor to try and save Stine’s daughter after he sees what he thinks is her being attacked.

An evil ventriloquist dummy who’s brought to life when the magic words are spoken, Slappy appeared in the Night of the Living Dummy saga of the original Goosebumps series, becoming one of the most well-recognized and creepy villains to readers of R. L. Stine’s books. Now that a Goosebumps movie is filming, those same readers are eager to learn what monsters will be featured in the movie, and should be pleased with the new film stills.
In these first few images, we get another look at Jack Black as R. L. Stine, but we also get to see creatures other than the zombies shown in previously unveiled photos. Slappy the Dummy is shown looking very similar to how he was portrayed on the Goosebumps covers, with his black hair, wide eyes, and red bow tie. He’s behind the wheel of a car, which could make for one wild ride.

Author R.L. Stine’s fantastic series of Goosebumps books is being adapted into a movie, and before you curse about yet another childhood something or other being destroyed you should hear me out. I grew up on the books and held onto the entire series so a long time before giving them away (I have them all in e-book form now). It’s a great series for kids that blended humor, darkness and horror to make for some quick entertaining reads.
When I first heard about the movie, I was skeptical as well; which book is being adapted? Why? The TV series of the same name was also enjoyable but I don’t have a lot of memories of that compared to the books. Director Rob Letterman (Gulliver’s Travels) is bringing the books to life and Jack Black plays the author of the series R.L. Stine in the film.

R.L. Stine's Goosebumps was a children's book series that offered horror and macabre humor to massive success. Now the children's author who brought us titles like Stay Out of The Basement, Night of the Living Dummy and The Haunted Mask is getting a movie makeover of his own, courtesy of Jack Black, who plays R.L. Stine in the upcoming Goosebumps movie. Our first official look at Goosebumps comes courtesy of EW (via Bloody Disgusting), who sat down with Jack Black to get some details on the intriguing adaptation. As you can see in the pic up top, Black's take on R.L. Stine is that of a dapper man who apparently can keep his cool while surrounded by monsters. But Stine is not immune to panic as is clear in the second shot, which features Black wedged in a gate while co-stars Odeya Rush and Dylan Minnette look ...

30 years after they last appeared on stage together, Monty Python finally reunited at the O2 last night for the first of a 10-night run.
John Cleese, Michael Palin, Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones wheeled out all their classic sketches and diehard fans - many in fancy dress - lapped it up. But what did the critics think of their performance? Here's a run-down of the first reviews:
Digital Spy
"One Down, Five to Go was never conceived as a bid to win new Python fans. It was always meant to be one last nostalgic hurrah, and in that respect they had a head-start knowing that the audience would be full of die-hard devotees. But you're only ever as good as your last performance, and if this really is goodbye this time, then Monty Python are flying out on a high and in style after all these years."

This week, we get a new number one to throw into the ring with The Empty Man from Boom! Studios. Also, Marvel dropped their Tpb (trade paperback for new readers) for Night of the Living Deadpool. Som we get a solid dose of the post-Apocalypse this week. One ends up being a solid entry into a genre on the rise and the other ends up falling a little bit flat.

A Goosebumps movie has been on the cards for a while now, but the project has really started to pick up some momentum under director Rob Letterman. A recently released synopsis for the film revealed that it would not be a straight adaptation of one single R. L. Stine story, but like Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed would instead form a sort of greatest-hits mash-up.
In Goosebumps, upset about moving from a big city to a small town, teenager Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) finds a silver lining when he meets the beautiful girl, Hannah (Odeya Rush), living right next door. But every silver lining has a cloud, and Zach’s comes when he learns that Hannah has a mysterious dad who is revealed to be R. L. Stine (Jack Black), the author of the bestselling Goosebumps series.
It turns out that there is a reason why Stine is so strange… he...
