shocking!

I was truly impressed by Paul Thomas's earnest portrayal of the apostle Peter in "Jesus Christ Superstar", so I thought that renting another, religiously-titled film featuring this same talented actor would be a truly rewarding experience for me spiritually. However, I was horrified and disgusted to discover that I had NOT rented a movie about the Ten Commandments, but rather filthy SMUT! Seeing St. Peter slapping the buttocks of a nubile seventeen-year-old prostitute was more than I could handle. Good heavens!

However, upon repeated viewings over the months since, I've come to immensely enjoy this film. I especially enjoy Thomas's throbbing manhood.

Danielle's folly

Warning: Spoilers
An example of the Porno Chic phase of Adult Cinema, this romantic drama represents the dream project of star actress Danielle Rogers, who produced and directed, but is not part of the cast. It's ambitious, in some ways a strange Hallmark type of woman's picture in the Adult genre, but scripting and structural problems turned me off, as hard as I tried to get into the movie.

Rogers sets up certain obvious roadblocks to viewer identification -lots of voiceover narration by star Eric Edwards, giving his character (a journalist) point-of view, plus highly artificial purple-prose dialogue.

The basic elements of the story are straightforward: Eric scores an interview assignment with Paul Thomas, a successful novelist in the Mickey Spillane tradition, whose latest book is softer and romantic, a major shift from his he-man previous sagas. But when he interviews him, Eric finds himself falling in love "at first sight" with PT's beautiful spouse, Sheena Horne.

The opportunity to interview a famous, independent woman Elizabeth Crawford, played by Kim Carson arises, and Eric pauses in his article about PT to visit her, too. He's struck by Kim, playing a big-game hunter who has also led female revolutions in various countries, and gets to have sex with her too, plus Rick Savage joining in for a threesome.

At this point, Rogers' movie begins to spin out of control, turning instantly into a sort of film noir as Eric asks Kim to shoot PT for him so that he can have PT's wife Sheena for himself. Add to that several erotic fantasies by Eric which may or may not be true (or merely in his imagination) and some key plot twists that are not believable. There's even a false ending, leaving me to scratch my head wondering what really happened at the end of this convoluted story.

The romantic sex scenes have a life of their own, but the overall structure is a total mess (probably with Eric's voice-over an attempt to make sense out of perhaps an unfinished movie). It's too bad, because the cast and basic story held promise.
