Some innovators try to devise a gadget that changes the world. Others hope to solve a global social ill. Sarah Sherman is eager to bring fake vomit on “Saturday Night Live” into the modern age.
The comic has gained notice on the long-running NBC late-night series for bizarre humor that blends gross-out jokes with a taste for the absurd. She’s been working with colleagues for months on new technology that would make the act of pretending to throw up onstage a lot easier — and more comfortable. For years, “SNL” cast members have relied on a tube tucked alongside their arm and usually inside a jacket sleeve that spews out liquid approximating vomit or blood. At just the right moment, the actor holds an arm close to the mouth, and the “vomit rig” does the rest. Dan Aykroyd used such a get-up in 1978 when playing Julia Child, who cut her hand open,...

It was originally announced back in 2021 that HBO Max was developing a “Garbage Pail Kids” animated series, with Danny McBride and David Gordon Green (Halloween, The Exorcist: Believer) co-creating and writing the series for Rough House Pictures.
What’s the latest on that project? Speaking with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Gordon Green reveals in a new chat that the planned “Garbage Pail Kids” animated series is still alive.
“Right now, McBride and I are trying to do an animated series on the Garbage Pail Kids,” Gordon Green tells the show. “So we’re working on that and we’ve got some pretty cool ways we can make a naughty animated show, we’ll see if they’ll have us on that one.”
Last we heard, Josh Bycel (“Solar Opposites”) is also writing and co-creating alongside the duo.

David Gordon Green and Danny McBride got their careers started together, with McBride working as the “additional second unit director” on Green’s feature directorial debut, the 2000 drama George Washington. Since then, they have collaborated on many more projects, from comedies that starred McBride to Green films where McBride was listed as executive producer, and even the recent Halloween trilogy Green directed, where they crafted the story for each film together. Green and McBride also share story credit on the newly released The Exorcist: Believer, which Green directed – and while doing the press rounds for his new movie, Green confirmed that he and McBride are still working on a new animated series based on the Garbage Pail Kids.
Green and McBride’s Garbage Pail Kids reboot was first announced back in 2021, when it was said that it would be a “family friendly” show for the Max streaming service. As it turns out,...

The Garbage Pail Kids animated series that David Gordon Green was developing with Danny McBride and Josh Bycel is not dead yet.
“Right now, McBride and I are trying to do an animated series on the Garbage Pail Kids, if you ever had those cards,” Green said during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “So we’re working on that and we’ve got some pretty cool ways we can make a naughty animated show, we’ll see if they’ll have us on that one.”
Green didn’t provide much insight into the development of the show but in 2021 it was confirmed that HBO Max, now known as Max, was working on an animated series based on the trading cards by the Topps Company. At the time of the announcement, the show was described as being “family-friendly,” in contrast to the “naughty animated show” Green said on the podcast.

Exclusive: Koulest Productions’ Miles Koules (Ski Weekend) and Oren Koules (Saw franchise) have optioned Boom! Studios’ comic Plunder, from creator-author Jonathan “Swifty” Lang, for development as a feature.
Plunder is a horror story that picks up with a gang of Somali pirates after they face off with an illegal Chinese vessel. They then try to board what they think is a research ship, only to find themselves in the midst of a massacre, with their worst nightmares becoming reality around them. The 14-year-old boy who went from translator to reluctant pirate becomes their key to survival, but he must decide how far he’s willing to go in the name of self-preservation.
The Koulest Productions duo has tapped Ethan Teller (Jar of Fools) to pen the script, with two-time Academy Award-nominated SFX Artist Alec Gillis (Prey) and his newly formed Studio Gillis also coming aboard the project to oversee its Special Effects.

The eighth season of The Walking Dead seems to have an obsession with surprises. It seems that every two episodes, some Savior is about to get away from whoever of the Ricktatorship is chasing him/her, and then another member of the Ricktatorship comes out of nowhere in some kind of vehicle to either give chase or just flat-out stop the escaping person via car crash. Rick and Daryl chased escaping Saviors trying to flee with a machine gun previously, and this week Daryl and Tara come...

Jay Lynch, the artist who made the iconic parody Garbage Pail Kids, has passed away at age 72. Bloody Disgusting tells us Lynch died following a battle with lung cancer. His art was featured on Topps Cards and were quickly snatched up by children of the '80s. Lynch would also have his art featured in Playboy as well as comic books.

Such is the random lottery of life and death during a strigoi apocalypse that poor Captain Messina (without the aide of his presumed co-Captain Loggins, no less) was selected by Eichhorst to ferry he, Kelly, and a bunch of vampires from Wall Street to Red Hook. After all, few things threaten the average American’s way of life more than lacking the fundamental privilege of choice and free will. Messina (actor Philip Williams, who’s done voice work for everything from Garbage Pail Kids to Babar) should be able to politely decline Eichhorst’s proposition, no matter how much money’s offered upfront or how shady the broker. He should be able to find some way out of this terrible, random predicament that’s boiled his life down to one last thankless task before abruptly ceasing to exist. But Mr. Messina has no support, no backup, and no way out,...

Chances are if you grew up creepy, you owned a fair share of Garbage Pail Kids cards. I know I had a ton of these, and most of my childhood belongings were also covered in their stickers. I never got into baseball cards or the various other attempts to lure kids to collect cardboard as if they were tiny squares of heroin. However, anytime I went out shopping with my Mom and my eye spotted a box of Garbage Pail Kids, my collection would grow a little larger. If you share such fond memories of this franchise as I do, then I have the kickstarter of your dreams!
