Clever, satirical porn comedy
lor_9 December 2022
A fine acting ensemble performs in "Cherry Tricks", a satire targeting familiar industries (advertising, movies) where the Casting Couch is legendary, and in an era where Harvey Weinstein remains as poster child for the #MeToo movement, is still relevant.

Tracey Adams is delightful as the star of a Cherry Tricks breakfast cereal commercial, delivering loads of double entendre lines to sell via TV. The sponsor Nick Random (his in-joke character name is Theodore Sturgeon, referring to the great sci-fi writer) and ad man Ron Jeremy are into auditioning other girls for Tracy's job, while she dreams of becoming a serious actress.

Targets of humor include Joey Silvera as a quite pompous acting teacher, more interested in having sex with his female students including Renee Summers, as well as even the cliched "I can be a star" girl represented by Sheri St. Clair, the ad agency's security guard who wants the glamour of being before the cameras.

Key to all of this is male lead John Leslie, perfectly cast as a porn movie producer who sees Tracy's TV commercial and wants her as his next leading lady. Add Taija Rae as Jeremy's protegee with a funny Judy Holliday styled high-pitched voice plus Lois Ayres as Random's girlfriend and you have a sexy comedy that maintains its lighthearted mood without stooping to the silliness of so many subsequent Adult videos.
