Warning: Spoilers
One thing that i love about The Busy World of Richrd Scary Series is that they are created. One day, while at a library, i found an old video tape, and that brought back lots of memories When i was younger, i also watched The Busy World Of Richard Scarry on the ABC in Australia. I absolutely loved the show and now own two videos.

Richard Scarry has come up with many amazing characters that will make you smile and they are simple and lovable. He has created a Sesame Street into a Town.

The Characters for me are the best. I love the Scarry uses the animal name as the last name. For example, there's Hildaa Hippo, Bananas Gorilla, Lolli Worm and Huck Cat. He absolutely amazes many. I hope the series comes to DVD, so many other young ones, can find joy in the amazing series " The Bsy World of Richard Scarry" as what i did.

Everything a kids' show should be!
xxlittlekittenxx8 March 2003
When I watched a clip of a recent cartoon on Fox (which was painful), I debated whether the cartoon really was terrible or I was too old to like it (I'm way, way above the target age). I decided that it really was terrible. Why? Because kids' TV has dumbed down SO drastically over these recent years.

But just ten years back things weren't like this. Sure, there were really stupid shows, but great shows still weren't uncommon. 'The Busy World of Richard Scary' was a favorite of mine for years, even when I started to naturally grow out of little kid shows. Why? I'll tell you.

'The Busy World of Richard Scary' was such a wonderful show because it had something that most kid shows and most new shows in general lack: MATURITY. It didn't talk down to the audience at all. And each episode had one cartoon that took place in another country with so many different characters. The stories were often simple, but the characters were so interesting that it really made up for it. The show was based on the books and characters by Richard Scarry, and it really lives up to his books (which I also loved when I was a kid).

The show was also sweet and child-like (NOT childISH, which is a totally different thing). The antagonists were always just mean or rebellious, not full blown evil. It was able to be innocent without being unrealistically perfect ('PB &J Otter', eat your sorry little heart out). The show was also great because it had SO many characters, not just a handful like most cartoons. The characters more than obviously had their faults, but this way you could really relate to them. They felt REAL. Even though 'Rolie Polie Olie' is cute and has charm, it's just too picture perfect to take seriously (even though you're not supposed to, but that's not the point).

Kids today really, really need to see 'The Busy World of Richard Scarry.' My mom was by all means not ashamed of loving it as much as I did. How many kid shows today can you say THAT about? The videos are kind of easy to find, so if you've got kids or are a kid at heart, check it out. You'll be so glad you did.

Something everyone should watch!
little_washu7013 June 2006
When I was younger, I watched this cartoon all the time. Sure, I still had my share of David the Gnome, Muppet Babies, and so on, but this cartoon was much more educational to me, and it still kept my interest as a small child. I was disappointed when it came off the air.

There are so many characters in the series, and so many different stories for each one (although many of them are memorable, such as Bananas Gorilla). Each episode would have two segments that took place in Busy Town, one segment that took place somewhere in the world, and two educational songs that would tell how something is made, manners, etc. inbetween each segment. There's no racial division since all the characters are anthromorphic animals, but it is definitely a cartoon that needs to be played today.

Busy Gold

Respected Gold.

Busy World is one of those colorful, vibrant and graceful shows to sit and watch.

There was so much going on with many characters. This show gave you joy inside.

It's sad it didn't get the exposure it deserves for being a great children's cartoon.

Verdict: When you're alone, and life is making you lonely, you can always go... to Busy World.

A Wonderful Show
jmelvin0120 June 2012
I grew up in the 1990s with this show, and I still watch it in 2012! It is one of the best programs that has been created. As a child I read Richard Scarry's books and appreciated the stories, the characters, the pictures. In the animated series, Busytown comes to life and we go on adventures with Huckle Cat, Lowly Worm, Hilda Hippo, Mr. Fix-It, Mr. Frumble, and others. Each episode has three great stories (the first and third involve stories from Busytown about Huckle and his friends, while the second story is usually set in a historical period. There are also two songs throughout (Play it Safe! and Imagine That!)Play it Safe! shows children important safety tips such as what to do when crossing the street, while Imagine That! shows how things are made, such as paper.) Bottom line: this is a wonderful, happy show, filled with gentleness and innocence. It definitely is a better alternative to the horrible programs that are on television today! I recommend The Busy World of Richard Scarry without reservation!

i want it back!
bk_eye_cande11 July 2006
i love the busy world of Richard scary and i think that it should be put back on t.v for the younger viewers. I, for one was a big fan of the show when i was younger and i do miss it being on t.v. sometimes my friends talk about that show and how much we used to love it and miss it dearly. we all would like to see the show back on television so we could all watch it again. I don't know about you other viewers and i really do not understand why they do not want to see it again or why they think it was useless. I really don't think shows are useless. I just think that they may be useless to me but very useful to other people, but then again that's just my opinion.
