Just watched this rare Columbia comedy short starring Wally Vernon and Eddie Quillan on YouTube. Produced and directed by Jules White from a story by his brother Jack with screenplay by Felix Adler (who, like me, was born in Chicago, Ill.), this was one of Jules' typical violent slapstick comedies that he usually made with The Three Stooges. In this one, Vernon and Quillan are neighbors who hate each other so they vow to find homes away from where they currently live. Unfortunately, it turns out to be the same house that a crooked salesman sold them both...The violence is so over-the-top and likewise for the characterizations that I laughed the whole time at how absurd it all was. And the typical sound effects unique to the Columbia films just makes it even more funny than it should be! So on that note, I'm highly recommending Nobody's Home. P.S. One of the lines, "That's the camel that broke the straw's back!", I recognized from another Columbia short, Ay Tank Ay Go, I saw on YouTube.
