The Women In Prison flicks are among the favorite genres for most Exploitation lovers. It is not hard to see why : from nudity, sex, rape and torture to suspense, adventure and drama, there is everything we crave for in most of them. When the late Alain Payet (as John Love ) made "Prison" for Colmax in the late nineties, he was already both a Porn and a WIP veteran. He had directed "Train spécial pour SS (Helltrain)" and "Nathalie rescapée de l'enfer ( Nathalie, Fugitive from Hell )" for Eurocine back in the seventies plus hundred of Porn classics throughout his long career. Actually, after Prison, he made two more hardcore WIP gems :"Yasmine à la prison de femmes" and "Section disciplinaire". So it is pretty safe to say that the man was good at making those sleazy exploitative movies. Need Proof ? Then check "Prison", a movie that ranks above the very best the WIP genre has to offer.
The plot involves two journalists women investigating the disappearance of one of their Colleagues while she was undercover in some unnamed country's jail(not much suspense there because the first scene shows what happen to her ). Soon They get on the prison's director's nerves (The tough but beautiful looking Elodie Cherie)who don't appreciate to be threatened by the press. So the nosy journalists (Lea Martini and Eva Falk ) are themselves thrown in jail and their nightmare really begin. Enough said, what follows is simply pure sexual madness. Some scenes are going to turn you on, others are going to turn you off but they all going to make you question your own sanity. It is that powerful. On top of it, the photography from Marcus Von Trotta is beautifully gloomy, most of the actors really know how to act (Roberto Malone is in there as some pervert politician so you know it's great...) and the simple but effective editing keep things flowing. Add to it a vicious dwarf (the great Thomas Santini ), Eva Falk fisting the equally gorgeous Nadege and Elodie Cherie sexually abusing the hell out of Piotr Stanislas and you got a winner, a disturbing one but a winner none the less.
The bottom line is : if you love sick Porn features, WIP flicks and exploitation in general, believe me,you want to see this. I'm glad I did and I sure miss the great Alain Payet.
