The New York City Opera offers a Bicentennial revival of "The Ballad of Baby Doe," telecast live. Composer Douglas Moore and librettist John La Touche's 1956 work is based on the true story of Mrs. Elizabeth "Baby" Doe, whose arrival in Leadville, Colorado, in 1880 set off a scandalous love triangle involving silver king Horace Tabor and his prim wife Augusta.
