Happened upon this little indie film whilst on holiday in France (and shocked it was USA title in English with French dubs!) Never heard of any of the actor-tresses in it to which i remain flummoxed; as there were heavy skills and major emotional depth carried forth by a seemingly rookie cast. Kudos to the Kreager, McColls, and the Marshalls girl on their performances.
The plot seemed basic and pat at first blush, but proved almost hitchcockian by films end. My only cut was that more time/focus could have been placed upon the boys father whose fate touched off the entire plot. very well crafted tale about Heroism. The narrative was brilliantly paced and showed a clear reason for the timing of specific scenes.
The production values were on par, but clearly filmed for economy and on the fly. Save that, it wasn't bad enough to distract and like El Mariachi and Reservoir Dogs in the same time era, the gritty indie prods like "decision" never waste a dime. Not sure of the budget or real costs, but the cinematography of "Decision" showed a very stylish almost classical style.
Had seen the talley griffith who made this film has written, produced and execute many other film TV and music projects- but no features directed since this. A pity that, after showing such true talent in this little gem, and hope he will return to directing. All in all a real true find! I've only seen it in France and hope Studio Canal + or whomever studio owns this will rerelease or do it online. Worth the investment!
