Glaciers melt faster. This moves so slow, its painful. It's really just the man and woman (am not sure of their relationship) for the entire movie. Not a lot of dialogue. I don't have subtitles and honestly my Japanese is not that good but don't think I'm missing much.
Thru most of this film the man is "torturing" the woman while sometimes she is restrained and sometimes not. She tries to escape only a couple of times and never really yells. She is whimpering most of the time but rarely any extreme signs of distress. Even when a large knife is held to her body like she will be stabbed she barely reacts. Huh? She reacts much more when clothes are being cut or torn.
Some examples of how slow & boring: Early on the man is attaching a leg manacle to a bed frame and he struggles so much it takes several minutes even though her arms are already restrained. In one scene He carefully (slowly) cuts away her pantyhose, panties, blouse and other clothes then in the next scene he's putting on new pantyhose, panties & clothes and then immediately cutting those off.
Several times where you think he will take the scene to the next level of pain, torture or invasive either the scene abruptly stops or he just drops whatever is in his hand and does something different. So don't expect to see any real violence or torture until towards the end and even then there are no real special effects so there's no shock value to it. There is some nudity but being a Japanese movie, her genitals are covered with a mosaic/blurring. Surprisingly there is a brief minute where the camera is towards her back and the man spreads her butt cheeks exposing her hole which can be shown in Japanese movies without blurring.
This was filmed with a single handheld camera that often shakes or is pointing away from any action. Most scenes abruptly end with the woman in the next scene in a different place & position. So she might go from unrestrained to restrained but except for the first time we don't see her put into restraints.
I won't give away the end (I've explained less than half & not the details) but it makes no more sense than the first half. I think the entire script was written on a napkin.
I was told this was one of the most violent & gruesome, totally shocking Japanese movies but it is far from it. It's just boring. Trust me. You won't like this movie at all.
