Tales from the Cannibal Side is a gory and sexually charged anthology film from Nightmare Productions. "Weekend in the City" stars Scream Queen Stephanie Beaton. She plays Karen, a woman who answers a classified ad concerning being eaten alive. This segment was pretty unique. Stephanie was quite convincing as a disturbed woman who who's ultimate fantasy is being eaten alive. My favorite scene was of her, Kevin K. Smith, and the beautiful Trish Mayer sitting around the table and chomping down on some turkey.
"Trick or Treat" is about a young woman who gets invited to a Halloween party by two mysterious women who promise "to give her a good scare". This segment was weaker than the last but still managed to entertain. There is a pretty revealing masturbation scene with the lead actress in this short and the ending was pretty gory.
"Meat's Meat ( And man's gotta eat)" was the longest and goriest short in this collection. This was about a family of cannibals who wants to start their own Butcher Shop. I found this short to be confusing until I listened to the commentary. Stephanie Beaton was in some scenes that din not make any sense with the rest of the plot. I found out when I listened to the commentary that it was scenes from a movie of hers called Twilight that she sold to the filmmaker to make it longer. Anyway, There are some gory deaths that should please all those gorehounds. I found the film to be completely worth my time and I think anyone who loves independent, low budget horror films to check. Although it is an acquired taste.
