Barely passable effort

Jennings certainly made many much better short documentaries than this tepid outing. It started off well with the boiling water in a kettle, but then devolved into about 80% of the film being given over to model trains from some museum or miniatures.

And this from the country which not only invented the technology, but extensively applied it as part of their industrial revolution. The only 'live action' shot is also quite pedestrian and colourless (both technically and thematically).

The best part for me were the maps showing the progress of 'railification'.

If he'd really used his imagination, I'm sure Jennings had the skill to do much better.
