Great Fantasy Romance from the age when love was still innocent
ebiros225 August 2013
This is one of Nikkatsu's Roman Poruno series movies where many of Japan's idols cut their teeth into mainstream entertainment. 23 year old Yuuko Mizushima makes her movie debut in this movie. Mizushima really looks 18 in this movie.

Toru (Masahiko Abe) is working as outside sales in a small company. He's not the brightest crayon in the box, and gets scolded often by his boss. One day he picks up a doll on a dumpster, and brings it home. He finds that the doll has turned into a pretty girl (Yuko Mizushima). She says she's a virgin but shows willingness be his sex kitten. Showing her ignorance about the human world, the doll (now named Elle by Toru) shows up at places she shouldn't go, wearing riskay outfit causing pandemonium wherever she shows up. Toru still has something going with his old girl friend, and Elle unwittingly gets recruited as object of desire by a lesbian woman played by Lucia Santo. Toru goes to rescue Elle, and he expresses he's in love with her in earnest. Elle is willing, however she still a doll. But a good conclusion awaits this story.

The movie was made when there was still innocence to love making in Japan, and girls were cuter. Nikkatsu Roman Poruno series has a happy go lucky atmosphere to the story, and this movie is no exception. Young Shusuke Kaneko is directing this movie, and even at this early stage of his career he show the clean cut style, and good story telling that he is now famous for. All of this combines to make this movie one of the best fantasy romance comedy in Roman Poruno series. The two leads Masahiko Abe, and Yuko Mizushima puts in a superb performance aided by director Kaneko's directing. One feature worth mentioning is Yoshiyuki Suga's good story, which keeps the movie interesting.

Great movie from the now inaccessible yesteryears of Japanese movie making. It's highly entertaining and worth a watch.
