Lots of action and comedy in this DBZ movie.
Aaron137519 February 2004
This one features more fighting and comedy than most of the movies to this point. This one features a mistake that leads to the birth of a creature named Janemba. It promptly takes over otherworld and the dead come back to life on earth. Gohan, Videl, Trunks, and Goten go to stop the more rowdy ones while Goku and this green guy named Pikan try and solve the problem from their side. The fighting is top notch as you see Goku turn SSJ 3 for the first time in a movie...at first Janemba seems rather playful and harmless (kind of like Buu), but after he is seemingly beaten he turns into a very destructive creature. Vegeta comes to help and they must perform fusion to beat this new threat. Meanwhile, Trunks and Goten battle Hitler and his army (don't ask). My main complaint is the battle between the fused Vegeta and Goku and the villain does not last very long at all. Otherwise though this one is very entertaining and it has a very funny scene where the fusion does not work very well.

Great animation movie!!!
kosovooh11 November 2007
If your an animation fan you've probably watched or have heard of Dragon ball Z. If you are one of those people I definitely recommend that you see this DBZ movie. This movie is filled with humor, action, and a lot of new things. The action in the movie is total nonstop action, and the humor is pretty funny. Animation fans will definitely be pleased by this movie, I know I was. The many new things include new fusions, new characters, and new enemies. There are many instances where the humor is very funny. The movie has just about every character in Dragonball Z. Again this movie will be great for animation lovers like me. I give this movie 9 stars out of ten.

Dragon Ball Z

The movie is great. The pacing is good. Animation was excellent and marvellous. The only thing which I didn't liked was the fact that what we were waiting for - Gogeta was featured for a very breif time but still it was fine. If you'rea dbz fan this movie should be on your watch list.

One of the best! In Japanese and in English
Deftone3155 April 2006
I see nobody has added a comment who has seen the 2006 release by Funimation. This movie was great in Japanese and awesome in English. With a great soundtrack to it. The story you'll see from the other comments. I also recommend the English. The movie finally has Goku after a long period of three movies, so finally you get to see Goku kicking ass again. Also this is the first movie you will see Super saiyan 3. Another great feature from this movie is you'll get to see Vegeta and Goku working together again, not since movie 6. The ending and how Goku and Vegeta figure out what to do to take Janemba down is perfect for the movie. The only reason I give this movie a 9 out of 10 is because it is very trippy, if you will. The basic plot of this movie is the should cleanser tanks for hell have exploded, leaving years of soul waste puring out everywhere, turning a young worker in to a fat tub of lard known as Janempa. It also changes the other world around in which there are jellybean looking barriers everywhere, and part of the reason I say it's trippy is because to break the barrier, you have to throw harsh words at it, not attacks. I found that pretty bizarre...Plus Janemba/Janempa is just another Kid Buu basically because he has pretty much no personality and he doesn't even talk. I like when the enemies actually have character. When the Soul cleansing machine explodes, all hell breaks lose, literally. Anyone from the other world can come down to earth and anyone living can go to the other world. Of course Frieza comes back with other saga enemies and some old movie characters. Also, Hitler and his army come back, which I found pretty funny. Of course Gohan, Videl, Trunks, and Goten all come to the scene, with not much of a challenge. Another thing that disappointed me was you don't get to see any other old enemies fighting. It's hard to say the time when this movie took place. It's obviously not in the 7 years apart because Goku says he has already fought Buu and Vegeta is dead. So I don't really think about the time it took place. Since a lot of the movies don't fit. Overall this movie is still really good and has great animation. I recommend you buy it 99.9%

Best Animated DBZ Movie
JayWolfgramm7 March 2023
"Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn" (Or whatever you want to call it) is the 12th DBZ movie, (Depending on whether you count the specials or Video Games). It follows the story of the creation of a new more powerful monster, made up of all the negative souls of the afterlife. With that barrier down all the dead rise up and cause havoc. And Goku and Vegeta must work together to beat this new monster, Janenba.

This movie marked a new high point of quality for the DBZ movies. It is my favorite of all the animation styles. Some people may prefer "Super Broly", "Battle of Gods" or "Super- Superhero", but for me, this is the best these movies have ever looked. The fight scene between Janenba, Goku and Vegeta is full of great moments.

The B-Plot that they cut to also has some good moments. Including Goten and Trunks taking down a particular evil villain who got released from Hell.

On the downside, Janeba doesn't have much of a personality, he is just the big bad guy the heroes have to fight. Janenba follows too many of the same plot points that Majin Buu follows in the series.

The way the fight ends is also pretty underwhelming, it just ends too quickly. And perhaps they spend too much time on the fighting of evil henchman from Hell, that could have been spent on the more plot relevant stuff.

Nerd rant stuff: Shenron is completely wasted in this story and where was Cell?

If only they could fuse the best elements of this movie, with the best elements of another DBZ movie. Other than those gripes, this is an all-around good time. I highly recommend it to any DBZ fan.

THE REBIRTH OF FUSION RULES!!!
JasonX200327 December 2002
This is perhaps the greatest of the Dragon Ball Z movies. This one being the 12th one, Akira Toriyama had a lot of previous skill. Perhaps the 13th movie, Dragon Fist Explosion, is a little bit better than this, but they are both great. Perhaps the best part is when Janemba is fat and nice and junk, but then gets interesting. Be sure to see this movie, you can get it at a Japanese videostore or buy it off of eBay... Hope this helps!!!

Janemba, Janemba Janemba
maxmages14 August 2018
Actually, most Dragon Ball Z movies are very average this one is not here, however he has the same shortage. for a real movie, the run length is just too short and does not leave enough room for more.

This one is without much hesitation one of the better films and even belongs to my favorites. Because this film contains exciting fights great atmosphere a super interesting drawing style comma above all the representations and drawings on earth are very unusual Dragon Ball but still so beautifully stylized that they are fun. In addition, this movie has something that was unfortunately in Dragon Ball Z too short humor and I like that.

In addition, it is very straightforward and visually well explained so that we can understand quickly and for everyone is that is one thing I am more of filming desires and the self-playing live action films goes down the first five minutes are so self-explanatory and so simple for my taste, a little bit fast, but so unproblematic that I really ask the question why you are so rarely used.

Actually, this movie is a must have for all Dragonball Z fans as well because he was a much better ending to the Boo saga concept and the idea and in addition I have to say Janemba is one of my favorite movie villains ever and that Concept is so unique in that you can interpret so much that I am completely fascinated and unfortunately a bit disappointed that it is so rarely shown.

It Wasn't Bad, But It Wasn't Good Either...
Just-A-Fan-of-Buuhan20 December 2019
I'm just gonna list the pros, cons, and my conclusion of this movie:

Pros: The battles were amazing, the main villain was similar to Bio-Broly in terms of how good of a villain he is, Gohan kills Frieza in one punch, Super Saiyan 3, Gogeta, Gotenks kills the entirety of Hitler's army with just 100 Kamikaze Ghosts.

Cons: Pikkon mostly gets no action whatsoever due to him being on the sidelines for most of the movie, Hercule didn't provide as much comic relief as he did in the last film but at least he gave us some, the Gogeta vs. Janemba battle was a little TOO short, but still good nonetheless.

Conclusion: To me, it's not bad, but it wasn't as good as people said it was. It would be better if Hercule and Pikkon got some more screen time and if the Gogeta and Janemba battle was a little longer. This is why that I'm ranking this 7 out of 10.

Best of the Z Movies!!!
lucas-4210 December 2002
This is by far the greatest of all the DBZ Movies. It has the best animation, full of color and life. It has a really awesome villian who is NOT named Janemba by the way. That happens to be a curse word he says, not his name. ANYWAY. This villian is a demon with an awesome sword that can slice through anything. Goku and Vegeta fuse into GOGETA and it all takes place in the other world. It was the first Z movie to use CG (Computer Generated) to assist in the animating process. Which makes this movie, when viewed in a good high quality video format (NOT crappy fansubs), a beauty. So much detail in everything.

It's also got a ton of comedy in it as well. Like Hitler trying to take the world over again while Goten and Trunks try to stop him with ease. Vegeta and Goku also fail to fuse correctly the first time they try and end up as a fat failed fusion who can't do anything but RUN!! Oh, and fart! lol. It's a crazy movie and one of the best and longest. Great Stuff! You GOTTA Watch it if your a true DBZ fan.

The Best DBZ movie I have ever seen!!!!
chaos2356@aol.com9 July 2002
The plot was great. The characters were great. And there was so much humor (mainly from Pai-Ku-Han) that you could just burst! I liked the animation and the way of defeating Janenba's force-field by cursing it. The movie was a laugh-riot.

Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn (1995)
Stefan_Loves_Movies16 February 2022
Dragon Ball Z: Revival Fusion (1995) is a short 51m DBZ Action movie directed by Shigeyasu Yamauchi.

The movie's plot is BASIC and WEAK. The film had POTENTIAL with the whole "the dead come back to life" idea, but it was POORLY executed. The villain was your classic 0 DEPTH random "bad guy" that you have to defeat. The FIGHTING SCENES were pretty GOOD, but there was WAY TOO MUCH HUMOR, so the feeling of DANGER wasn't present in the story...

Conclusion: Dragon Ball Z: Revival Fusion (1995) is NOT one of my favorite DBZ movies. I DID NOT enjoy it...
