This show was somewhat controversial for its increasingly dark toned. It featured implied character deaths and other situations deemed too dark or mature for kids. This was especially upsetting to censors, as the show was based on a toy line for young children (as opposed to a toy line being created because of the show, the show existed to promote toys which already existed). The creators of the cartoon were nevertheless frustrated by the censorship issues and by the inevitable cancellation. The show was successful and critically acclaimed when it first began.
Jason Marsden was the original choice for the voice of Max.
Based on the popular toyline created by Bluebird Toys.
This show was cancelled mid season without a closure to the storyline.
One of Max's closest allies on the show is named Norman. These names may be a reference to Max Norman, a legendary British record producer (which seems likely given that the source toy line originated in the UK).
