Incest as a movie theme is usually a psychological matter, since other than porno involving twins the fact of incest is not physically represented on screen. But in FAMILY FUN, the anonymous pornographers have opted for a frankly dirty-minded approach, not for all tastes.
This is part of the "cinema of ugliness", which is not limited to porn but evident in soft-core "torture porn" as well. Cast of FAMILY FUN is not chosen for good looks (even Sharon Kane is outfitted with a terrible wig and styled grotesquely as a stereotypical dominatrix) but rather to look & act raunchy, and they're successful.
Obscure film has been reissued many times, though all the versions I've seen (4 so far) are not in good shape. They vary: the Gourmet Video is much longer than the fragmentary After Hours Cinema cut (latter missing both beginning and ending scenes); picture quality on AHC is much better but music track (mainly disco) has been dropped compared to Gourmet's poorly copied from VHS to DVD edition.
Story is simple and very broadly played for cheap laughs, basically getting the audience to respond to how sleazy the characters behave, and implicitly, how low-down is their director instructing them to do this or that. Extremely homely beanpole heroine Bernadette (with eye makeup a cross between Eva Green and those '60s TV heroines from "The Munsters" or "The Addams Family") is introduced masturbating to images of Donnie Osmond from a vintage Donnie & Marie fan magazine. (This scene is missing from AHC).
Daddy catches her, gets mad and spanks her as a prelude to some incestuous fingering (with gynecological close-ups, a recurring visual gross-out of the movie) to prove she's no longer a virgin. (This is also missing from AHC).
He makes her go to neighbor's house to be babysat by Francia, a top-heavy (read: huge natural tits) meanie. She goes there and some steamy lesbian action results after the duo spar and argue.
Joke of the film is that both Bernadette's dad and mom fake appointments, but each go off for an infidelity sex romp with a pal. Kane puts B's dad into bondage and humps him, ending up with a money shot all over her fetish long black gloves.
Sex is rude and crude. Molly Seagrim as Francia's mom is also off at an orgy but de-emphasized in the film until the end.
Big set-piece occurs after the girls invite Don Fernando over and he services them, but is interrupted by Francia's dad returning home. The unidentified actor who played the scientist the year before in MADE TO ORDER is daddy. Dad goes through the usual parental outrage trip but is soon humping the young girls, with his busty daughter getting plenty of attention to give the film a strong incest theme.
Ending is different older folks phoning each other and lying through their teeth about what they've been up to.
Film is fairly worthless in the grand scheme of things, but could be offered up as a very typical example of what "outlaw porn" is like, timid but sleazy division. It's polar opposite to the lucrative couples high-end portion of the market flourishing in the same time frame.
