Masala film but little phattu!
varghesejunior19 July 2012
Sapoot - again , a 3 hour masala flick of the 90's, and with a strong pair of those days - Akshay and Suniel Shetty.

Story is about the 2 sons of a golden-hearted ganglord who have to fight against their enemies and face many obstacles to achieve their goals.

The good - Some action sequences, the climax, some dialogues, the music.

The bad- Some phattu scenes (you watch and see), some unnecessary song sequences, some overacting, directorial goofs.

Can be watched, but only if you have the patience to sit for 3 hours for this. I did!

Bad film, with two extraordinary things
artikafitriaramadhani6 April 2020
Sapoot is a stupid film. This film is really bad to watch. I wonder what's on the director's mind when directing this film. I hope you will never watch such a bad movie. In terms of the storyline, I think if the storyline is very bad.

But I appreciate some comedy scenes that are slipped in the middle of the story. They cannot be forgotten. Likewise with the action scenes carried out by Akshay and Sunil. Even more shocking to him, Akshay did it all without a stunt double.

Rating for music, I say if the film's music is so disappointing.

Although it's not too bad, with one song that I still can't forget, which is Tera Yeh Dekh Ke Chehra. For the song Kajal Teri Aankhon Ka, I feel disappointed with the choreography and the song. This song has similarities to Anu Malik's own song, i.e

Godfather remade in Hindi
silvan-desouza9 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Before RGV made Sarkar in 2005, there was another remake of the Hollywood classic Godfather. Sapoot starred the 2 macho action heroes of 90s after hits like Waqt Hamara Hai(1993), Mohra(1994) and flop like Hum Hai Bemisaal in the same year. in this film Kader Khan plays The Godfather inspired numero uno DON who has 2 sons Akshay and Suneil, Mix in that bollywood masala, some nonsense comedy, villains and voila you have a bollywood action film ready.

The film directed by Jagdish Sharma has all ingredients to woo the single screens audiences of that time, The film was however only an above average at the Box Office.

Direction is decent Music is okay, Mumbai Liyo track was a hit rest are okay

Akshay Kumar who was dubbed a wooden actor in those days, gives an okay performance, he was very raw those days and tried too hard as an actor, his stunts were his saving grace Suneil Shetty too falls in the same bracket, he does his role quite well though except in scenes where he has to shout Karisma and Sonali fit in as the heroines Kader Khan is good in his part, Prem Chopra, Mukesh Rishi are as usual Johny Lever does quite a good job as the mentally challenged guy for a change he does something different

STATUE!!! Akshay Kumar & Sunil Shetty Are Awesome!
amz_20067 July 2008
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is all about Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty and the usual consistent performance of Kader Khan. Akshay Kumar does superbly to grow from a player to a responsible Police officer although at one stage he uses Law to his advantage he also realises that whatever the situation Law must be enforced without any favours. Sunil Shetty plays the loved older son of Kader Khan who does all his black-market work for him. Sonali Bendre and Karishma Kapoor are special appearances in the movie as nothing is related to them apart from getting happily married to the heroes. Mukesh Rishi, Prem Chopra & Kiran Kumar show class as villains, with Kiran Kumar playing the loyal henchman in the first part of the movie only to surprise viewers in the latter.

I would recommend this movie for all those Akshay Kumar & Sunil Shetty fans whom enjoy their 90s movies, very under-rated movie includes packed actions and emotions.

What daredevil stunts
vivekea28 November 2018
You ought to watch the movie for the last 15 mins of stunts akshay carries out by himself.

Doing all those stunts himself.

Its a typical bollywood movie and truly a watchable one, esp now. Reminiscing of how the 90s had been.

I have the stars spiked up just for Akshay kumarz extremely dangerous stunts.

The Best Akshay Sunil Action Film
superindrajit24 May 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Akshay and Sunil Movies are always really good. The only disappointing one was Hum Hain Bemisal with a bad and confusing plot. Coming to Sapoot(good son), this movie is really well made with loads of action, and comedy. Akshay Kumar as the lover boy does good but him turning into a law keeper is annoying, he overacts in his cop scenes. Sunil as the law breaker and revenger for the death of their father Kader Khan does better and acts really well. The heroines do really good, Karishma overacts but Sonali does really well. The comedy of Kader Khan can be found funny and his acting is really great. Mukesh Rishi is a great villain, very convincing and angry looking. Prem Chopra annoys, bad acting. Overall, the movie is really well made and acting is good, music is really great. This movie was a smash hit, and hopefully Akshay and Sunil have an action movie in 2012 because all of Akki's movies are flopping because of his stupid loud comedy and only Thank You didn't flop.

Overall: 9/10

Hindi version of Godfather
bhupindersingh426 April 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Sapoot is an Indian version of The Godfather with lots of action and little drama and romance

Kader Khan as godfather Prem Chopra as his opposition Sunil Shetty as Khan's right hand man Mukesh Rishi as Chopra's right hand man

Great movie. It was an above average at the box office due to having tough competition from Blockbuster Raja Hindustani starring Aamir Khan and Karishma Kapoor and Super Hit Ghatak starring Sunny Deol and Mamta Kulkarni which opened in its second week at the box office Sapoot - 1st Nov 96 Raja Hindustani - 6 Nov 96 Ghatak - 7 Nov 96 All three movies came out during Diwali If the latter two came after another week then Sapoot would at least have became a hit and most possibly a super hit

Sapoot had very good songs which were a hit

The movie I feel personally belonged to Sunil Shetty who done an amazing job. Sunil also does a convincing role of attempting to hold on to his father's legacy of a godfather. Akshay Kumar was good and Mukesh Rishi as a villain was convincing. In the movie, Chopra's son, Manek (Jeetu Verma) done a good job who had very good dialogues. Kader Khan was also good because as well as being a hardcore criminal he was a very loving father who does not refuse who his kids wish to marry (does'nt care about their life partners' social status or family background
