Unbelievably bad
Gary Graver is often highly praised for his porn work (though of course his mainstream career is what matters), but his "East L. A. Law" has absolutely incompetent direction. I'm seen many amateur efforts that were far better.
There are innumerable things that make this unwatchable, starting with the ridiculous, insulting imitation Cheech Marin accents adopted by cast members like Wayne Summers and Peter North, cast in Chicano roles. They play a pair of stupid lawyers who should be dead several times over in the screenplay, but Graver handed in such a miserable hodge-podge that nothing makes sense. Their client is played by Mercedez, who is the worst actor in the movie, reading her lines so poorly, so bored and careless that I wanted to turn it off very early on. She hires Wayne & North to rescue her sister from Sean Michaels' brothel, but it turns out instead that she's searching for a sunken treasure that she and Sean fought over.
The stupid story line is awful and the poor acting spills over to the sex scenes, where Graver has everyone noisily faking passion almost comically. A couple of scenes of violence are also botched -by movie's end it becomes clear that footage in the final cut was included no matter how bad it turned out -utterly careless "let's wrap this one up" direction.
Finally, the movie featured Alexandria Quinn in the final reels, and she was removed later, due to her being found out as acting in porn while underage. This renders the movie falling apart completely in the final reels.
