Bruce flies out to see in a Douglas Dolphin but lands near Lady Betty in an entirely different type of flying boat. The former has its engines mounted above the wing, the latter below the upper wing.
All through the race, shots of the vessels sometimes show them as one masted sloops and other times as two masted schooners. One shot shows two masted yawls.
When the question is asked whether the balloon spinnaker should be raised because the wind is too strong, the sail above their heads is almost flat because there is not enough wind to fill it. In addition, earlier shots have show the yacht to be carrying all sails possible.
