Great Movie for Wiggles Fans
lukekelleyswell16 June 2019
If your a wiggles fan (like I am) you will definitely love this movie and it even has some enjoyment for Parents or casual Movie fans who aren't huge wiggles fans while this movie is really good it does have one flaw that always bothered me First for all for a movie Called the wiggles movie (also known as magical adventure in america) The wiggles aren't really the main focus and they don't get enough screentime It suffers the same problem Cars 2 and Thomas and the magic railroad has the screentime mostly goes to Dorothy the dinosaur and Wally the great they're both Really enjoyable characters but I wouldn't be so bothered If it was treated like a spin off instead with the wiggles in it instead of advertising it as a "Wiggly movie" they should of called this movie "The Wiggles Dorothy's Magical Birthday"......OH WAIT they were gonna do that but they changed it to "Magical Adventure" WHY!? The last name was perfectly good and it fit the movie more now let's get to the plot of the movie Other then that this is a really great movie it has fun and likeable characters it has Catchy Songs its funny and a overall enjoyable Movie I recommend it for all wiggles fans

Warning: Spoilers
A summation of this film is the title..the line, that, for me, stole the show.

This 1997 film starring Page, Cook, Fatt and Field shows them go about their daily lives as they encounter Wally the Magician (Tony Harvey)who leads them in to burden but also gives them a sense of happiness. Dean Covell as the director is a perfect fit, his artistic eye really brightens this film beyond belief.

However, there are some flaws. The constant wand debacle is frightening and sad which doesn't fit in to the film's lovely eye. Also, when the pirate drowns a tear comes to my eye every time I see it. There are also some historical inaccuracies such as a dinosaur, to add to this figures of the canine species yield the same size as those of homo sapian units.

One thing's for sure though- THIS IS A MUST SEE FILM! Fatt's tendency to sleep is hilarious!

Great for Small Children!
sheloveshercats1 September 2003
This is a movie and Television show that is Great for Small children! (Unlike other comments on here that are from ADULTS watching a CHILDREN'S show.) My 9 month old Loves how the Wiggles seem to talk directly to her. She Smiles and Squeals when I bounce her to the Wiggles Happy, Silly Songs! I Plan to Purchase this Movie so She can Delight in it everyday, just as we watch them every morning! Thank You Wiggles for Making Television Fun for Children!

Good for kids!

I wanted to write in because I just read a scathing report on this movie and couldn't disagree more. Both my nine month old and 3 1/2 year old love The Wiggles. Instead of just sitting and watching, The Wiggles involves the children. Their videos are aerobic workouts! It is meant for kids, not adults to be entertained, and it works!

Wiggles are excellent!
BaileyK-18 April 2005
Sure if you're an adult watching this show you might think it's a little lame but it's not your opinion that counts-it's the children's. I was introduced by my three year old cousin to this show and she loves it. The bright colors, simple songs, and movements really stimulate the minds of young children. It's a really simple way to keep your child thinking. By getting your children to dance along, you're giving them a chance for exercise, which is important to start young. Children should definitely watch it, especially in an age where you're not sure what's safe or not. This is definitely a family show. This show is also good because it introduces children to the concept of foreign accents in an harmless way.

Brilliant Kids movie
zanki1 October 2002
The Wiggles movie is a brilliant movie for children.

It has all things children want - colorful scenes and costumes, imaginary characters, lots of fun, upbeat tempo, silliness and singing. My 2 kids have watched this show soooo many times, yet still enjoy and request it!

There are a lot of good songs for children to sing and dance too (and recite for you later), a nice and simple story line that children understand but provides structure to the movie, and an everyone wins, happy ending....

I recommend it to anyone who wants something happy, wholesome and fun for their children.

Positive for kids

My kids flat out love the Wiggles. The silly songs and dances get them up and moving, and the goofy characters make them laugh. The skits may seem inane and repetitive to adults, but their style appeals to children. The Wiggles work well together and have an offbeat charm that makes them fun to watch. Three cheers for this Aussie gang!

Thank God for the Wiggles!
thompsk10 July 2003
I have two children (2 and 4) and my wife and I have had to watch a lot of kids videos over and over again. Even the Disney classics start to wear thin after the fifth or sixth time.

The Wiggles are refreshing and fun. They don't treat your kids like idiots (like Barney). The songs are fun, the lyrics are easy to learn, and the music is surprisingly good.

They make the kids get up and dance and have fun, and they don't annoy the adults. What more could you ask for in a kids movie.

(Be forewarned, you may catch yourself singing the tunes at work)

Second Highest grossing Oz film for 1998!
wcovell25 November 1999
A fine family movie which stands as The Wiggles greatest artistic achievement to date. I am of course biased because the director Dean Covell is my brother. Nonetheless, in my view it was through Dean's superb direction that 'fab four for under fives' were able to rise to great heights. Indeed, the statistics speak for themselves: The Wiggles Movie was the second highest grossing Australian film for 1998 (Screen International) and the third highest sell thru video behind Titanic and Lion King II. The movie was distributed by Twentieth Century Fox in Oz and New Zealand and is to be released by Buena Vista in the UK

So much better than the "modern" Wiggles!!
emmyolafsen10 February 2018
My children adore this crazy, funny, cheeky movie. It is so much friendlier than the new wiggles with their stark, uninteresting sets and over choreographed singing and dancing with smiles frozen to the faces of the performers. This is about a silly magician who needs to get his wand fixed and he meets a certain dinosaur, who is missing out on her surprise birthday party , along the way. This movie is just fun and it contains everything that the later Wiggles, as they started getting more rich and famous, lack.

For Australian guys who love kids, what's NOT to love?
mille528 October 2002
As a salute to both Barry Manilow and the Wiggles, I will start my review with "Oh Wiggles, you came and you gave without taking, I'll never send you away, oh Wiggles!" Okay, with that necessary intro, I'll say that the Wiggles really do rock. I'm 14, and I love a children's band from Australia, I am in no way ashamed, and why should I be? They create good wholesome entertainment for children and adults alike. This movie is absolutely delightful. When this movie originally opened in Australia, in 1997, it was opening against Titanic, that's right, TITANIC. The Wiggles Movie had one-tenth of James Cameron's budget, but it was not swallowed up by the hype of some ship sinking (a tad ironic, eh?), it was the second highest grossing film in Oz (Australia, for those of you who aren't in the know) in 1997. The Wiggles have a way of relating to children and are in NO WAY irritating. They have quite a fan base and should not be judged by ANY skeptical parents, ban Ren and Stimpy from your house, people, leave the Wiggles, after all, all they want to do is please.

Still love this movie
liamgovan24 January 2021
A lot of people seem to reckon this is just for kids. I grew up watching this movie. Even as a grown-up, I still think this movie is awesome. It has a well-written script, good songs, and beautiful settings. I recommend this movie to everyone.

Wiggles with a plot!
occidental31 January 2004
If you don't know who the Wiggles are, you may want to start with one of their shorter videos, since this may be a bit much as an introduction. If, however, your kids like the Wiggles, this is for them. It's a longer format show, with more of a plot than their standard video. The songs are the usual 'Richard Simmons for pre-schoolers' fare, but with an underlying theme of caring about others and believing in yourself. There are the old favorites, as well as new song and dance numbers for Wags, Henry, and Captain Feathersword. Lots of wiggly fun!

The Adorable 4 from Australia!!!!!
barrionettebabe6 September 2004
This movie is cute and funny and I recommend it for kids of all ages.

The Wiggles are not dumb! They are the best! The music is AWESOME! I would rather have my kids watch them then the Teletubbies any day of the week.

My favorite Wiggle is Anthony (the blue one) and I love Captain Feathersword! They are both hysterical. Greg (the yellow one) is a great singer, Murray (the red one)is a great guitar player and Jeff (the purple sleepy one)is cute and funny.

I've also have their other two movies 'Space Dancing' and 'Cold Spagetti Western' and I love them both. I have other Wiggle Tapes and CDs and all I can say is that these guys from Australia are AWESOME!

A fantastic movie for toddlers
emerest22 May 2004
Well as the subject says, it's a fantastic movie for toddlers. It keeps my one year old entertained the entire length of the movie. It's even grown on me. It contains lots of interaction which is something that is crucial for young viewers. Kids have a short attention span. The singing and dancing is what does the trick. Even the silly faces and silly actions make my toddler laugh. This movie is about a surprise party for Dorothy the Dinosaur and the journey of a struggling magician who just can't seem to pull off a good magic trick. This movie includes all the great characters such as Captian Feathersword, Henry the Octopus, Wags the Dog, and of course, the Wiggles. As a mom, I love this movie. My toddler loves it and because of that, I'm able to get ready for the day. Sometimes we even sit down and watch it together. This movie is clean, musical, energetic, and fun for all viewers! If you love the Wiggles, I highly recommend this one!

The Wiggles offer a complete experience for kids aged 0-100
johncub4 June 2002
The Wiggles offer a complete experience for kids aged 0-100 with singing, dancing, and story telling. They dress brightly and complete their ensemble with lively characters and scenery that excites and amazes children of all ages. Their songs and dances are easily memorized, making this a favorite in any child's video collection. The only negative aspect of their many videos is that they are not yet available on DVD and the VHS tapes are bound to wear out with all their usage in our household!

Fun children's entertainment
drmastermind27 December 2003
Having seen every episode of the Wiggles with my 3 year old, I can say that this is not their best effort from my standpoint. Although my 3 year old loves it, as well as every other episode.

In this film Wally steals Greg's' magic wand so that he can win a magic competition and is caught by Dorothy and the wand accidentally breaks. It's Dorothy's birthday and she thinks that everyone has forgotten, so she takes Wally to see each of them to see if they remember and can fix the wand. During the story Wally learns that friendship and being yourself are more important than winning at any cost.

As children's stories go, I think that these 4 auzzies (they're not brits as a previous poster stated) do a wonderful job. The songs, based on 50's rockabilly sound, and the stories are meant for preschool age children (all four members of the Wiggles are licensed preschool teachers) so yes the songs repeat the chorus a lot so the children can easily learn them and sing with the show. There is a reason why the Wiggles have won so many awards for their children's music, because it's fun.

In response to criticism...
philipadams_11 April 2005
"What is wrong with people? A kid show has to still be smart and funny and not patronizing. The Wiggles is anything but that. It stars these four bizarre fellas who live in Pee Wee's summer home with some oddly low-budget puppets and dance a lot. The acting abilities of these four Brits is questionable, since they overdo all of their lines like kids won't be able to understand them otherwise... We also get some really dopey concert scenes where the 'Wiggles' sing a very repetitive song while shaking their tails..."

A kids show doesn't have to entertain adults. Patronising? It's a show for children, and they seem to enjoy it immensely. The Wiggles themselves have absolutely no pretensions at all. Oddly low budget sets and puppets? Last year they made $34 million and they always invest most of it back into the franchise. He claims that these "Brits" overdo all there dialogue so the kids can't even understand it. First off they are not Brits. Second, all kid entertainers overdo everything- children don't react well with subtlety. And third, if they overdo it so much the kids can't understand it, then how can they sing along to every last one of their songs in concerts and on TV? Criticising a kids show for being repetitive? You are obviously unaware of the fact that kids need repetition to learn- why do you think all kids shows have such a strict pattern and are repeated so much? Uh huh.

And that's the end of that chapter.

This movie changed my life!!! Now im dead!

Warning: Spoilers
I have watched movies for 10 years and yet i have never seen a film that touched the heart more than The Wiggles Movie. In this film there are characters you can relate to like Dorothy the dinosaur, Wags the dog, feathers the pirate who tickles my sense of humour, and the octopus who makes me want to dance. I really feel for Wally, i can see he was born into a world he never knew, poor guy. Anyway, this a magical film that will blow you away that will make you jump out of your seat and will make you fall in love with dinosaurs over and over again, and will make you believe anything is possible with just a little magic and a lot of money!

A Treat for Wiggles Fans!
Jace_the_Peanuts_Fan19 September 2023
I've known of The Wiggles for all my life, but I never knew they had a movie until 7 or 8 years ago. I watched it for the first time nearly 4 years ago thanks to YouTube, and there was a treat in store for me!

It is 100% faithful to the Wiggles franchise, and very welcoming to those who are unfamiliar with The Wiggles! It's easy for the audience to get to know the show/franchise/band through the movie. The gang's all there: Anthony, Jeff, Murray, Greg, Wags the dog, Dorothy the dinosaur, Henry the octopus, Captain Feathersword and his crew, Officer Beaples, the Wagettes, and even some original characters. A few of the iconic classic Wiggles songs/dances are present, and some "new" songs too! It is wholesome and fun like the show, but it does get sad for a while due to Dorothy thinking her friends forgot about her birthday at first and her party almost getting cancelled because there was no sign of her, after The Wiggles have worked so hard to prepare for it, but thankfully Dorothy comes to the party at the end and finds out her friends remembered her birthday all along! Like the show and albums, the songs are catchy, groovy, simple, and easy and fun to dance along to!

This has marked the debuts of a number of things to do with The Wiggles: the big red car being a real car (for those of you who don't know, it was originally a cardboard cutout), Wigglehouse, Captain Feathersword's dockyard, a couple of the songs that would later appear in the show, and the more common versions of the songs Rock-a-Bye Your Bear, Can You Point Your Fingers and Do the Twist?, Dorothy Would You Like to Dance?, and Romp-Bomp-a-Stomp, which would all later appear in the show as well. The Wiggly Medley in the end credits is the perfect song mashup for any Wiggles fan! It's a mashup of a number of the iconic Wiggles songs (Hot Potato, Fruit Salad, Rock-a-Bye Your Bear, etc.)

The plot is cliche, but it has a number of elements that don't appear in the other stories with similar plots that I've seen, making it not entirely cliche. I've seen episodes of various different preschool shows with similar plots to this, but they all came along after this as far as I know. I'm guessing the "cliched" plot originated here and inspired a lot of preschool show creators/writers to make the aforementioned episodes. Long story short, the villain turned hero, Wally the Great, was not a good magician at first and he stole Greg's magic wand, but he found friendship, hope, and success through perseverance thanks to Dorothy's help. Those are important lessons for all!

Before I watched this for the first time, I heard it was mostly about Dorothy, and it is. I assumed The Wiggles wouldn't get enough screen time, which would make the title misleading, and I was intrigued as to whether or not the movie would be good. Surprisingly, the titular musical foursome gets their fair share of screen time, making the title not entirely misleading.

The movie has got a little bit of everything in it. It stars the four original Wiggles and includes Dorothy, Wags, and Henry's late 90s designs, the designs I grew up with during the early years of my life, even though I like their more recent designs too, and their designs haven't gone through any dramatic changes since then. What more could I ask for from The Wiggles Movie, besides for a couple of the songs to tone down a bit with their repeated lyrics? You can never go wrong with The Wiggles, the original lineup to be exact!

Very cute
michanda28 April 2004
Anyone who actually has given The Wiggles a chance knows that they are a brilliant form of children's entertainment. Though some unknowing commenter here referred to them as "brits" they are actually Australian, and I have learned why adults and children alike are wild about them. More than any other show, they do not underestimate the intelligence and learning ability of children, as they use words like "constructing" instead of "building", "improve" instead of "get better" and "interested in" rather than "want". These guys each bring something original and wonderful to the table, as well as being musically talented and gifted.

My son and I can't get enough of them, and he actually requests this movie more often than the other Wiggles DVDs we have.

The character, Wally is very cute and funny, and The Wiggles give us lots of extra silly for this one. What a delightful movie!

Some might not like but my 2 year old is in love
Michael_Not_Myers5 October 2003
The wiggles might get a lot of negative comments from adults but sit back and don't watch them, watch your children watching them. My 2 year old daughter doesn't care much for sponge bob or many other cartoons that my five year old enjoys but when she first saw the wiggles she loved them instantly as did my five year old now they want to watch them all the time and maybe you don't get the wiggles but no doubt their target audiance does and they love them just watch the concert scenes. I like the giggles to as a matter of fact.

I like them!
squeezeitboobie6627 March 2004
Ok... I don't care what other people think, but the Wiggles are kinda cool. I'm only about 15 and I watch the wiggles with my 2 yr old twin sisters and sometimes my 4 yr old bro too. They love to dance with the wiggles! Their songs are so catchy that I catch myself singing them sometimes and my siblings are always singing 'Quack Quack' or 'Mash Potatoe'. Even my parents sing those songs with them! I can't stand hearing my friends talk about how they think the wiggles are Gay! The truth is.. they're not! They are married and have their own kids. In fact, Murry's kids are on the show. Just because they wear the rainbow colors, it doesn't mean that they're gay. We don't know if the rainbow colors stand for the gay people in Australia like they do here in USA. My Ma-maw thinks they move so gracefully. She says it also shows that older men can be fun with children. Some of these people really need to watch the show and see what I'm saying! They're great.
