Dark and gritty... a roughie classic...
mex_amcleaning200729 April 2017
Definitely belongs in the grind-house "roughie" series. A film of gritty, violence and rough sex. No romance for sure. Ron Jeremy proves he can act well. The violence is limited, but the sex scenes in most cases are pretty rough, especially the final sequence. The surprise for me, was Dixie Dew... her scene with Ron was pretty good, a bit raunchy... Not much is known about Dixie Dew, she has appeared in only about 5 films, in small roles... Don't know what happened to her... But, so many women come and go in the porn world... never to be seen again. I wish there was more of her, but alas, it is not to be.

All in all, Prunella is a classic of the genre. A bit short, barely 60 minutes... but still a joy to watch for fans of Ron Jeremy and the grind-house genre...

Well-Made "Crime" Roughie...
EVOL66615 July 2006
Warning: Spoilers
PERILS OF PRUNELLA is one of the better made XXX-roughies in terms of an actual storyline and acting. I grade these films on a more "forgiving" scale - because I don't expect CITIZEN KANE from a porn film - but with all of this type of material that I've seen - this one had more "impact" than some...

Three convicts escape from a prison and have a "run-in" with Prunella and her mother on the way to Prunella's wedding shower. Unluckily for the two ladies - Prunella's moms just-so-happens to be the prison warden's wife - and the convicts are out for some rape-themed vengeance...

George Payne as the "leader" of the convicts is over-the-top as usual - but it really works for him in this role. Most notably is the rough rape scene between Payne and Prunella - which is more realistic than most that I've seen, and is on-par with the also memorable second rape scene in FORCED ENTRY. Ron Jeremy as Prunella's fiancé and the cop that is out to catch the escapees also turns in a decent performance during his non-sex scenes. Speaking of the sex-scenes - they're pretty standard roughie fare with a few "straight" scenes and then the requisite rape material once the gang takes over the wedding shower. Again - the rape scene between Payne and Prunella really stands out as being extremely realistic as Prunella struggles, spits on, slaps, and fights back against her assailant. Definitely recommended to the "roughie" enthusiast...8/10

Three degenerates crash a briday shower
Woodyanders28 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
A trio of vicious escaped convicts led by the sadistic Jimmy Connors (robustly played with lip-smacking loony glee by the ever-intense George Payne) seek refuge from the authorities by rudely crashing a bridal shower.

Director Phil Prince keeps the taut and involving story moving along at a brisk pace, ably crafts an unsparingly harsh and scuzzy tone, makes inspired use of wacky sound effects, and caps everything with a perfectly shocking and upsetting surprise grim ending. The sex scenes are quite raunchy and explicit: The in-your-face depravity contained herein includes rape, sodomy, and clothespins clamped down on nipples (and elsewhere!). Moreover, it's acted with zest by an enthusiastic cast, with especially stand-out contributions from Ron Jeremy as lusty detective Paul, Ambrosia Fox as feisty bride Prunella, Dixie Drew as the repressed Denise, and Cheri Champagne as browbeaten moll Vendette. Prince has a funny bit as a bumbling prison guard. Lee Label's funky-throbbing score and the fairly polished cinematography by Phil Gries are both up to speed. Good sleazy fun.
